Anyone using a fitbit while pregnant?

I'm pregnant for the third time this year. I wear a fitbit with a HR monitor most days and have always noticed a noticeable rise in resting heart rate when pregnant.

I've had two miscarriages this year and i am going for an early 8wk scan next week. I'm worried as i have noticed that my heart rate has dropped from 77bpm to 70bpm after rising steadily throughout November. For context, its typically around 58-62bpm when i'm not pregnant.

I'm still having occasional period like cramps and sore boobs, but no bleeding or any other symptoms. I never have had any strong symptoms in any of my pregnancies.

Has anyone else had any experience of this? I feel like this is telling me i have miscarried again.

No no no. Relax, OP. Your heart rate always goes up in pregnancy due to the increased amount your heart has to pump round

Ah sorry I noticed you say it's dropped slightly. I wouldn't worry it's still above your normal rate !

NetflixandBill · 07/12/2016 19:32

Thanks choco. I know i'm paranoid but without othet symptoms i guess to cling to stuff like this which is pretty objective!

Mine has done the exact same thing and I was literally just panicking about it. Same numbers too. I'm only 6 weeks but my symptoms are lessening. I can't even get an appointment with a doctor or midwife.

Chunder · 07/12/2016 19:41

Sorry, that's not helpful 😞

NetflixandBill · 07/12/2016 19:41

Hi chunder, its stressful isn't it? Is this your first pregnancy?

So stressful! It's my second.
I'm sure it means nothing, perhaps just our bodies adjusting.

My resting heart rate has gone up overall since being pregnant, but it does fluctuate. I have a similar resting heart rate as op when not pregnant. It's now about 72 on average and I'm 16 weeks. Do you look at the monthly average chart in the app?

Besides I really don't think this is a good indicator of how a pregnancy is progressing. There are many variables that can affect heart rate. Stress being one. I know it's hard not to worry but true symptoms don't really start until 6 weeks when your hcg is high and even then for some women it has little effect. For example, my first pregnancy I had no symptoms! This time more nausea but that is it. Wishing you a happy, healthy nine months.

Thanks all. I'm hoping it's stress related also. I did complete a couple of big projects at work last week and by a total fluke seem to be having a pretty boring and straightforward week this week. I just hate the way it seems to be dropping so rapidly!

Attached a pic of the most recents. I'm meant to be about 7 weeks now so will have got the bfp about the start of this chart

I took my fitbit off in first trimester for this reason - I was obsessing over HR and stressing myself out as it went up and down. 25 weeks now and HR is reliably 15-20 bpm faster than pre pregnancy and all (as far as I currently know) is well.

I'd just not wear out for a few weeks if i were you.

moonoverthewater · 08/12/2016 08:02

This happened to me! It first went up and then came down before I was due my first scan and I was terrified of miscarriage (I'd already had one).
I was googling and panicking and ended up taking it off as it was causing too much anxiety.
Anyway the baby was perfectly fine!
I've not worn the Fitbit since as I'll obsess over it and don't want to stress myself out.
Hope this helps.

I've just checked mine and it dipped back down about 7 weeks for a few weeks then creeped back up again.

Christmasbaby16 · 08/12/2016 08:49

I have a fit bit and wore during pregnancy but didn't use it for HR monitoring asbi do believe the accuracy is variable.
Mybpulsr pre pregnancy was always inlate 60s/early60 but during pregnancy it was continually late 80, midwifesaid this is normal as hody workung harder.

Hi in 7 weeks and a couple of weeks ago my heart rate was waaaay higher than it should of been (another reason I took a test) anyway, right now my heart rate is at 70. Still have my sore boobs (haven't had any other symptoms) I wouldn't try to worry about it too much. Hope it all goes ok xx
