IVF Treatment

Hi,

We have been advised that IVF treatment is our best chance of becoming parents - can I please have any suggestions of good IVF clinics in central London - we are Surrey based but travel in town everyday for work - we are hoping to find a clinic with good birth rates and great patient care - i am generally anxious of anything medical and needles so will need the compassion and patience of doctors and nurses.

Any suggestions and experiences that can be shared would be most helpful.

Thanks

London clinics I can't advise on, though if you pop on to the infertility board plenty of people could.
I'm in Sussex, and used the Nuffield in Woking. We looked at London, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire and found Nuffield to have the best live birth rates for my age (39). Honestly couldn't fault them, and would recommend you take a look. I have been incredibly lucky though- currently 23 weeks pregnant after first fresh cycle. Wasn't what we were expecting - and even the consult advised us that it takes an average of 3 cycles.
If you have any other questions just ask.

I did an IVF cycle at the lister and would definitely recommend them, they were much better than my previous (not London) clinic.

I used 92 Harley Street and Boston Place in Marylebone.

Just to add, I got pregnant from my fresh cycle at the lister but sadly miscarried, but am now 28 weeks pregnant from a frozen embryo from the same cycle.

Another for Lister in London, you'll usually see the nurses once consultant has created your treatment plan, they were all lovely. I hated needles too but they are small & thin and you get used to them and get a dab hand at doing them Smile, didn't find they were painful at all (it was more the thought of a needle for me!)

Just get the prescription and get the drugs elsewhere as the pharmacy downstairs is expensive and has dispensing fees per item. I found Sainsbury's the cheapest near me (even cheaper than Asda), just call round when you have your plan and get costs, usually can be ordered and in by 24-48hrs.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to share your experiences with me - really appreciate it!

Maybe try posting again on the infertility topic? They may have some more advice.
Good luck! Flowers

I'm also living in Surrey / working in London and I chose Boston Place. (Waves at Bibs!) As there are so many appointments, usually fairly quick, but still take time out of a working day, I needed somewhere easy to get to. BP is not near home or work but is short Bakerloo line journey from Waterloo and a short hop on the tube to DH's work and a few more stops to mine. Lister was our second choice, but we preferred the vibe at BP and Lister was a pain to get to from home and work, involved lots of changes, walking and/or buses.

My first cycle was at my local hospital and I would work from home on the appointment days - that worked really well logistically but they were not the best choice for us after our NHS cycle failed and we had to go private because there were lots of techniques that they didn't offer.

I spent a lot of time on the HFEA website comparing stats and also attended lots of open evenings.

Bibs2014 · 12/12/2016 22:29

Ah blue - no way are you at BP too! We've probably seen each other there Grin. I chose them because they are the same team that gave me my DS when we had our free round on the NHS.

Blueroses99 · 12/12/2016 22:40

Ah Bibs I'm sure we must have! I liked the team at IVF Hammersmith, I went to the open evening, but it was just too far for me and BP was promoted as their private arm in a more convenient location. I really like the team at BP, I feel like everyone wanted the best for me and filled me with confidence (unlike my NHS experience...)
