Hi everyone,

I read on the Baby centre website that c70% of couple who can conceive naturally will do so in 6 months. My husband and I have been trying for 7 months with no luck and I think I'm about to find out that we've not conceived this month. A lot of our friends are getting pregnant at the moment and it's just not happening for us. How long did it take you to conceive? Please don't feel bad about responding if you got pregnant v quick, I just want to hear from other people!

Thanks for any responses!

Wasn't actively ttc- more just an if it happens it happens approach- ds1 but I think we'd been without contraception 3 months when it happened. Took a year of active ttc and much angst to conceive ds2. Ds3 was conceived when I was on the pill and was a great surprise!

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 06/12/2016 09:38

4 months with DD1 who we lost at 20 weeks.
One random shag 6 days before ovulation for DD
Conceived on the pill the baby that we lost at 13-14 weeks
1st month of trying with the one currently cooking.

I get pregnant fine, but the 2nd trimester is my nemesis.

Lizziedoll · 06/12/2016 10:57

First: Cycle #3 (miscarriage at 6 1/2 weeks)
Second: Cycle #4 (currently 6 weeks pregnant)

gigi556 · 07/12/2016 21:12

1st pregnancy 1st month trying but miscarried at 7.5 weeks
2nd pregnancy 1st month trying and now 16 weeks

I think everyone is different and feel very lucky. However, we used fertility awareness successfully for 2 years as contraception so I think I was pretty in touch with the right time to conceive as I'd been trying to avoid it for so long!

If you are stressing about it, it can really mess with your hormones. My accupuncturist who specialises in fertility says she sees it all the time.

5 years for us.

NickMarlow · 07/12/2016 22:25

9 months / 11 cycles for dd.
Currently ttc2, 4 cycles so far.

goodbeans · 07/12/2016 22:25

Second cycle. I read this first - if you plan your efforts you are likely to conceive more quickly. Best of luck, OP. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009O1ZYQG/

Badgoushk · 07/12/2016 22:27

DD1 after one month (aged 36), DD2 also after one month (aged 37).

MmmMalbec · 08/12/2016 06:49

1st time was second proper cycle after coming off the pill. This time is 8 cycles and counting Sad

Missyaggravation · 08/12/2016 07:03

So sorry for all the losses recounted here Sad. My first was a bit of an accident, second conceived first month of ttc.

I did get a bfp first month of trying with third but was a chemical pregnancy. Took a further 6 months to conceive him. Also had a further chemical pregnancy after him, but wasn't ttc.

876TaylorMade · 08/12/2016 07:09

First on the first try born July 2015.
Second also on the first try, due in March.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 08/12/2016 07:10

First try/passionate holiday slip up with DC1. TTC #2, negative preg test this morning cycle 1, boo!

TheNumberfaker · 08/12/2016 07:13

9 months DD1
16 months DD2
With both it wasn't until I stopped stressing about it that I conceived... and gravity helped by hanging upside down off the bed.

Heatherbell1978 · 08/12/2016 07:19

1st - Cycle 1 which ended in mc at 7 wks.
2nd - Cycle 1 (4 weeks after mc). DS1 is 2
3rd - Cycle 1 (28 wks pregnant now).

I clearly fall pregnant easily. I was 36 when 1 and 2 happened and then didn't expect 3 to happen so easily again as I'm 39 but it did. We're very lucky. Good luck!

eurochick · 08/12/2016 07:22

3 years, with the help of IVF (with one IVF MC before the one that stuck). No reason - our infertility was "unexplained".

Sierra259 · 08/12/2016 07:27

DC1 - 6 weeks not really properly trying
DC2 - 8 months with ov sticks, cycle monitoring and planned dtd. The month we did conceive, we dtd every 3 days for 2 weeks, rather than every other day for the 3-5 days I thought I was ovulating.

Eminybob · 08/12/2016 07:31

First time 3 months but we miscarried.
Then 6 months for DS.
Current pregnant with dc2 - 4 months.

Lovemylittlebear · 08/12/2016 07:36

Dd1 - 3 months
Preg 2 - 6 months / mc
Preg 3 - 4 months / mc
Preg 4 - 2 months / mc
Ds1 - 3 months
Current pregnancy - wedding surprise - not trying and not stressed about trying. Only one occasion it could be

I know stress isn't supposed to have an impact but I think for me it did. Good luck - fingers crossed it will happen soon x

Somersetlady · 08/12/2016 07:41

Immediately with first 3 pregnancies but sadly they all ended in misscarriage.

I got a puppy instead. Th weekend we collected the puppy I got pregnant with ds1 and he stuck!

2 months on ds2

Ds2 was 4 months and i was breastfeeding when suprised to find out expecting number 3. Sadly lost them at ten weeks.

KirstyB87 · 08/12/2016 07:46

It took DH and I 4 months to conceive DS. I was very stressed in the beginning and that stress was eliviated in the July (cycle 3) and found out I was pregnant the next month.

Stress plays a massive part and I was tracking my periods and ovulation religiously. That July after the stress, I deleted the app and just 'had fun' and stayed relatively relaxed about it all xxxx

SunflowerHouse · 08/12/2016 07:47

Ds1 was a happy accident
Ds2 took 3 cycles
Currently 17 weeks with dc3, she happened the 1st cycle. I actually came off the pill to track my cycle for a month or two before actively trying. So the baby we were actively trying for took the longest!
I have friends that have taken months. 1 was 8 months, 1 was over a year and happened naturally while waiting for a referral, another is days away from having her ivf baby.
Wishing you lots of luck ttc. I hope some of the experiences on here have provided you with some reassurance.

babynelly2010 · 08/12/2016 08:01

1st w/ DD - 3 months NTNP
2nd w/ early MC - 1st month of trying
3rd w/ DS - 5-6 months
4th w/ this baby - over 2 years w/ one year of trying and the rest of NTNP. This time around I am over 35.

I read somewhere that your egg, its quality and health is one of the most important factors to get pregnant. But it actually takes 6 month for egg to get developed before it is realeased. So if you started to be healthy, stopped drinking, taking prenatal vitamins it will take about 6 months for that to go into effect. Best advise I got after my MC was just live your life and don't worry about getting pregnant. As soon as I forgot about charts, ov sticks and all the planning baby came :-) good luck.

Confusedpenguin · 08/12/2016 11:23

user1480198351 have you tried the usual, ovulation strips etc? I was doing them every day, twice a day in case I missed my surge. They're cheap to buy in bulk from eBay or Amazon!
I fell first month (I do realise I am incredibly lucky!) and am 7+5 so still very early days.
I had been tracking my ovulation for about a year and a half following a m/c so I had a rough idea when it would be. DH and I tried every day on the lead up to and on ovulation day. I also didn't drink around ovulation at all (neither did he really) and we used preseed lubricant from Amazon which has really amazing reviews so gave it a go!
Good luck! x
