Thrush treatment....

I'm certain I've got thrush. Sore and itchy. The chemist won't sell me anything without a prescription but the midwife says pessary and cream are fine to use and the GP will prescribe them. But, I can not get an appointment with the GP and have tried and failed twice to get a telephone appointment due to being a teacher and unable to answer my phone in lessons. My local tesco sells them off the shelf. Would it be majorly wrong to just buy and use it? I'm 33+3.

Self checkout is your friend. Or get a friend to get it for you. You've been told it's fine, so why not? I was certainly prescribed it when pg.
Or take the morning off and get an emergency appointment. You are not well after all.

I also used the pessary during pregnancy. They just advise to insert with a finger rather than an applicator

Thanks I think I'm just going to do it. I can't take time off - I'm a teacher, the holidays are coming up so I'd feel guilty.

The pessary and cream are fine just make sure to use your finger to insert the pessary rather than the applicator and do not take any tablets as they're not safe.
Chemists won't sell it because, like a lot of medicines, it's packaged with a warning that it is inside for pregnant women when that's not true. I had the same issue with cystitis treatments that my consultant had said was harmless but due to the warning label I couldn't buy it!
Send a friend/family member in for you! X

Unsafe not inside haha

I had a nasty case during pregnancy and coal tar soap was the only cure for me. 50p-ish and great!

I had the same problem where I could not get served so your options are go to maternity assessment unit they will take a look and prescribe so ask a friend to buy it for you
