Pregnancy & Hypermobility

My sister and I both have hypermobility (not severely, although mine is slightly worse than hers) and we've had similar pregnancies. I was just wondering if the pregnancies were the same because of the hypermobility or just genetics/luck of the draw!

For the first few weeks in the first trimester, we both had really horrific stomach cramps. Couldn't move, couldn't sleep, cried constantly stomach cramps. And now in the 3rd trimester she had and I'm currently have really painful stomach muscles. Presumably from them moving apart to allow for the baby to grow quickly in these last few weeks, but again, really painful, getting worse towards the end of each day so that I have to spend each evening laying on my side with nothing touching my stomach.

Anyone else with or without hypermobility had this??

This is interesting! I have hypermobility but the only place it's painful is my hips (just too flexible everywhere else) so I've been really worried about how they will be. I'm only 15 weeks and thankfully nothing yet but I did have horrendous cramps the first few weeks which I didn't think to put together with hypermobility but maybe it does make it worse? I had early scans as it was so bad would wake me at night and I couldn't even move from the pain. I'm still getting them now although no where near as bad, along with sharp pains which I presume is ligaments/stretching. Be interesting to hear others experiences. I didn't expect early pregnancy to be this painful!

Me too! My cramps weren't as bad as yours but I ended up on EPU having early scans as they thought it might be ectopic.

Like a PP I'm most worried about my hips. They started clicking more than usual around wk 6, now at 15 weeks they are clicking more again. I've got a physio routine which I try to do nightly and I go to pg pilates weekly.

Have you been offered extra scans to check cervix length? My consultant doesn't believe in cervical length scans Hmm and I'm worried about pre term labour.

Hmm, interesting! Maybe it is all related then!

No extra scans offered, just told to be extra careful when getting in and out of bed and the car (not swinging legs wide)

Good luck with your pregnancies!
