Does anyone else prefer their pregnancy body?

Hey,

This is a little random. I'm nearly 35 weeks pregnant and have just realised that I actually like my body so much more than I ever have done.

This baby is munching its way through most of my body fat so my hips, thighs, bum and back fat are all looking considerably better and I fit back into my undies that I bought for my honeymoon 12 months ago which turned out to be too small

I've started on the naked selfies to send to DH and just want to share them with everyone because I like the pictures so much! I haven't felt like this about my body since I was about 16!

Please tell me I'm not the only one? I feel like I should be complaining and feeling frumpy

This is great! Really good to feel positive about your body, whether pregnant or not. Enjoy it! I hope to feel the same Smile

Uiscebeatha85 · 02/12/2016 17:52

I liked mine better because I didn't have to care about not having a flat tummy! Now DD is here though I'm not loving the stretch marked kangaroo pouch Sad

DoubleCarrick · 02/12/2016 17:59

I'm having to restrain myself from posting a half naked selfie I'm that proud Grin Blush

I have no idea what my body will be like after and don't even want to think about it just yet

Body confidence is always a thing to be celebrated!
just wish I could share it as I hate what pregnancy does to my body

PotteringAlong · 02/12/2016 18:04

I feel the same. It's the only time my boobs are even vaguely in proportion with the rest of my body Grin

drinkyourmilk · 02/12/2016 18:08

I'm loving my pregnant tummy! First time I've ever worn clothes that fit. I look fab and I'm a size 20!

Foggymist · 02/12/2016 18:17

I just looked chubby when I was pregnant because I didn't get a proper bump until about 3 weeks before he was born. However!! For all you pregnant ladies I have an interesting post pregnancy body development that I've just realised recently. Before pregnancy I had a very, very full 34DD bust, lots of things were off limits to wear because I looked too booby, top heavy, etc. But now 20 months after birth and still breastfeeding they have lost juuust enough volume to fit nicely into outfits without looking shoved in, it's great! I never thought I'd prefer them after pregnancy and breastfeeding!

SeashellHoarder · 02/12/2016 18:17

That's great for you op.

I really can't say the same ( I look ridiculous, like my normal self but with a prosthetic pregnancy Bump). I'm much bigger than most other pregnant mum's I meet.

Bertucci · 02/12/2016 18:22

I absolutely loved my body when pregnant. I wish we had taken more photos - please take loads OP!

I stayed really slim everywhere apart from the bump. I weighed less at 9 months pregnant with a 9.5lb baby than I do now Blush

Jojo13 · 02/12/2016 20:40

Good on you!
I loved it too. Always been self conscious about my belly area so always wearing loose tops etc, but when pregnant I was loving showing it off in tighter tops and not worrying.

GreyBird84 · 02/12/2016 21:29

I like the fact I can wear bodycon dresses.

I do not like the fact I feel rubbish 90% of the time.

Yes! I am a size 6-8 normally and I just loved the curves and the cleavage I got while pregnant. I also had WAY better hair and skin and just felt so much better apart from the giant bump, endless peeing and aching pelvis

Calicocurtains · 02/12/2016 21:37

Yes I know what you mean. I've always been a bit dysmorphic about my body sand pregnancy has helped me see the beauty of it all.

OliviaBensonOnAGoodDay · 02/12/2016 21:41

I can't wait to be pregnant. It will probably be the only time in my adult life I don't feel like I have to suck my tummy in!

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/12/2016 21:41

According to friends dh I look better pregnant..... Not sure about that one!

I quite like it though, looks wise, I think I have a nice bump. Bloody uncomfortable though!

FlissMumsnet · 02/12/2016 21:54

Hi OP, we're really pleased you're feeling so happy with your pregnancy body but...no naked selfies! Smile

DoubleCarrick · 03/12/2016 05:32

Haha thanks fliss I'll keep the selfies too myself. Grin I guess I got reported? Did someone think I was actually going to do it?! Halo

This has been an uplifting thread. It makes the waddling and discomfort somewhat worthwhile! Although another five weeks of it might start to get tedious

I think pregnant women look gorgeous in general. Enjoy feeling beautiful op!

PacificDogwod · 03/12/2016 09:04

Good for you! Smile

Yes, I liked my pregnant body too - loved my bump. Much nicer to have a firm bump than that soft jelly-belly post-natally. But even that improves with time.

Bodicea · 03/12/2016 09:08

I had a massive bump and loved wearing stretch/bodycon dresses. I only put weight on the front and felt fab. Dh found it attractive too. As I have always put weight on my tum I loved not worrying about having a fat belly in clothes. Post baby my mum tum is even worse so back to square one. However I am grateful at least I never had a flat belly to lose in the first place. My best bit has always been my legs and bum which haven't changed. I feel sorry for people who always prided themselves on having a flat tum and lose it after pregnancy.

Newlywed56 · 03/12/2016 09:11

Pregnancy body far outweighs the post pregnancy pouch Blush

thecatsarecrazy · 04/12/2016 09:07

No. My boobs look awful, my nipples are huge and my boobs rest on my belly. I don't have stretch marks yet but they will probably appear. I have purple veins showing in my leg, black rings round my eyes, I waddle everywhere. Oh well only another 8 weeks or so Grin

Whatsername17 · 04/12/2016 10:21

I like my body too. I've put on 1st5lb at 33 weeks. Baby is estimated around the 5lb mark. I've got a big, round tummy but slim everywhere else. I was the same with dd and was very surprised when I 'snapped back' and was slimmer than pre-pregnancy pregnancy. I've never been skinny - a size 10 top and 12 bottom although I do have a small waist comparatively. Losing weight has always been difficult for me and I have a history of ED. So, not to have any weight issues in pregnancy and post partum is a huge deal for me, even though it sounds a bit conceited. After having dd it made .each determined that she would never see her mum complain about her weight or body image because I want her to have a healthy attitude to food and weight. I think its good for her to see me embracing my pregnancy body and enjoying it.

Cuppaqueen · 04/12/2016 10:41

I wouldn't say I prefer my pregnant body but I am also happier with it than I expected to be!! I thought I'd miss my flat stomach more but I actually like the rounded feel of my bump, and my boobs are staying perky-ish despite being massive. I don't like tight clothes on my bump though, prefer floaty, skimming things over skinny jeans or a nice empire line dress. My bump at 21 weeks is quite small - I think my abs are still doing their best to hold it all in good luck with that. I'm doing antenatal workouts to help keep my abs strong - am I crazy to hope I might get my flat tummy back?!? Confused
