Londoners- how before 1st midwife appointment contact

I spoke to my GP about referring me to St Thomas' when I was 5 weeks pregnant. I still haven't had any correspondence at 8 weeks. I've called my GP and every time they confirm I've been referred and just say to wait. It's impossible to contact the hospital antenatal unit directly. Is this normal? This dc2 and I'm sure I'd had midwife appointment by now.

Any advice?

Also I had my first midwife appt (London) at 10 weeks.

Not st Thomas' but London - I had my first appointment, blood tests and scan at a 'one stop shop' at 12 weeks so prob wouldn't have heard anything at 8 weeks

I was at St Thomas several years ago. Heard directly from them re scan and bloods but all other midwife appointments were done by local community midwives.

I've self referred both times (to the Whittington & UCLH). I wouldn't trust my GP not to forget or cock it up tbh.

I had to chase the Whittington because nothing came, turned out someone had input the wrong house number so my booking in/scan appt letter had gone awol. Booked in on a Friday, scan the following Monday, at around 12 weeks.

UCLH sent out all the paperwork within two days. Booking in at 9 weeks, scan at 12+6.

Try calling 020 7188 8002 which is the antenatal first appointment booking no. on the website. Even if they can't help they should be able to put you through to someone who can.

Hi Kmini I'm having my maternity care at St Thomas's, and the one thing I've found is that it is very hard to get hold of them! You have to keep calling that number endlessly and eventually someone helps. There's a different number for things like test results which they are better at answering! I had my booking in appointment at 10 weeks - I got a letter in the post confirming. It takes them a few weeks to process so fingers crossed yours is on its way.
