Baby Bump

When did you first look noticeably pregnant?

I am 13+3.

I am only a size 6-8, and I can feel where I think the fundal measurement is (about half way between pubic bone and belly button). It is like a very very small harder (but not totally hard) area. I can still do my trousers up. Is this normal?

I just wondered what the norm range is to start looking noticeably pregnant and when the time normally comes to not do your trousers up.

I know that every pregnancy is different but I wanted a rough guide to go by.

Thanks for advice.
xx

With my first pregnancy, I think I had a small bump at about 16-18 weeks, but people didn't notice it until I was about 20 weeks plus! I also managed to wear my usual trousers until about 16 weeks.

I was itching to get a bump, it goes really slowly doesn't it?!

Hi Endless,

With my first pregnancy I remember I was still wearing normal clothes at my first scan which I thought at the time was at 12 wks, but I was actually 15 wks. I was a size 10-12 at the time. I guess I must have started showing not long after that, but to be honest I dont remember too well.

With 2nd and 3rd pregnancies I've been showing earlier each time. I'm now 17 wks and have been showing for ages!!!!

BabyMadwithBump · 14/02/2007 13:38

Has the MW done these measurement? I'm 15+5 and my MW hasn't started taking measurement yet as it can differ greatly in the first half!

I was still in my size 8 jeans at 23 weeks. My size 10 jeans still fit and do up but the button refuses to fasten now at 26 weeks. Think I started to show at around 19-20 weeks and have had a bit of a growth spurt in the past week.

It varies, though in general you show less (or later) with your first than subsequent pregnancies as your muscles are still quite "tight" as it were! I'm pg with my fourth (17 weeks) and started wearing maternity jeans last week (though I still fit into some of my normal clothes). I am a 10/12 normally. However when I was pg with my third I was in maternity wear much sooner.

Don't be wishing your bump here too soon - I got so fed up of wearing the same clothes all the time last time around!!

Thanks for your messages.

I so want to start not getting into my own trousers now! I kind of think that if I am getting bigger then I know I won't miscarry. Still very worried about miscarriage.

I am just guessing on measurements myself! I think its my fundal measurement but not sure. It just feels a little harder down below and I can feel where this very slightly curves in, which I think is about halfway between pubic bone and belly button. Is this not the fundal measurement? Or something else? Or my imagination!!!

Also, you will probably find your bump goes through a huge growth spurt in the next week or so - mine did at 14/15 weeks.

BabyMadwithBump · 14/02/2007 13:47

I thought my belly was only so high but my MW pointed out to me yesterday that it was this high which was higher, MW are better at measurement then we are best leaving it to them, as we only worry when we do these things (that we dont really know about) ourself's!

endlesslove · 14/02/2007 13:50

I think I am just rooting for a bump, however slight!!! I really want to start showing just so I know baby is growing and that I haven't miscarried. Does or did anyone else still worry about miscarriage at this stage?

I Has some "doubling over pains" afew weeks ago and i was so worried that I was carring around a non-HB baby lets say, and yesterday my MW couldn't find a HB for what seemed like forever but when they did I almost cried, I really thought the worsed for a few weeks, even though I've felt Baby moving alittle I just thought they were in my head, IYSWIM! You dont stop worrying untill you have the baby in your arms, this is my 3rd and still not got any easyer when it comes to worrying!

scorpio1 · 14/02/2007 14:01

i am the same size as you, and i expected to be showing really early too. with my first i could do my trousers up unitl 22 weeks! with second i didnt have any showing until 18 weeks.

dont worry,and enjoy your pg!
