Hot tubs - are they safe in pregnancy???

This is probably really daft but I seem to recall reading somewhere that you should not go in hot tubs when you are pregnant.

I have just booked a lovely little hotel to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in April and each room has a private hot tub! When we go I will be 6 months pregnant.

Will be rotten if dh can go in and I just have to watch!

I'm pretty sure it's hot (as in temperature) baths you can't have. a 37 degree bath in a hot tub however would be fine.

i think the advice is actually no...

sitting in them raises your core body temp too high, and cause fetal abnormalities in your first trimester. however, you will be more than that by then.i personally wouldnt, although it sounds a shame!

have a nice weekend break

Hi
We haveone at home and the answer is definitely no. It is different to a bath as a bath cools but hot tub keeps constant so raises your body temp! Sorry. I'm miserable about it too!!!

Thanks everyone - glad I'm not going mad and that I obviously did read it somewhere. Good to know the reasons behind so when dh is relaxing I can give him the science behind why I'm not in there with him!

Oh well, think I'd rather be happily pregnant and save the hot tub for another occasion!
