I gave myself a small electric shock in my hand ysetersday when I unplugged my hairdryer sometime after I had finished using it. I had moisturiser on my hands - very stupid. Does anyone know if this could be harmful to my baby? I am not too worried because surely they would warn us if this was a real problem but thought somebody might know more
Thanks

If you're really worried then speak to your midwife - a bit of monitoring to check your baby will put your mind at rest. I got electric shocks all the time off all sorts of things while I was pregnant: I got used to being very careful not to touch the shelves in supermarkets because I got a bolt from the wretched things every time!

Thanks both I had the baby's heartbeat checked and it was normal - has put me off using straightners as they have given me a shock while plugged in and using them in the past, but think I will just have to be careful with hairdryer. This whole thing has been a reminder to me not to be so careless.

I'm really glad you're both OK.
