iCandy - footmuff

Hi everyone,

I have the icandy for my baby that is due in two weeks. Obviously she will be in the carry cot this winter. But for next winter, do you think I need the footmuff to go with the pushchair?

I have one of the limited edition colours, so would need to buy the footmuff this winter if I am going to buy it. I just didnt know if it was a bit of a waste of money, and whether people tend to use a blanket instead?

Footmuff definitely best, as babies tend to kick off their blankets (and once you've retrieved a few bedraggled blankets from puddles you'll think a footmuff is well worth the money).

The branded ones that are sold by buggy manufacturers tend to be pretty expensive - it's easy to buy universal footmuffs for about £20, and you could always get it in a neutral black/grey so it will go with your buggy even though not an exact match.

Also worth thinking about getting a waterproof one, although these are more expensive. A lot of toddlers seem to hate raincovers on their buggies, plus you won't always have raincover with you. If you have a waterproof footmuff that plus the buggy hood should keep the baby dry.

I've always used blankets with my kids. Main reason is it's easier to wash and dry a blanket or two than the cozy toes things especially once they start walking and have muddy shoes. I think a factor to consider is how much you will use your buggy. Are you going to walk lots with the buggy or mainly travel to /from places via car? If former, the cozy toes might be a good idea as baby might have outgrown carrycot by spring and it can still be quite chilly.

I used a John Lewis one for my icandy.

I used the footmuff from around four months, my DD wouldn't entertain the carrycot from then, I always had it on all year round because let's face it, British summers aren't great. I would have it undone on warmer days so it was just padding then. She has just grown out of it at 17 months, in that she hates having her legs contained. From what I've read they're designed more for babies than toddlers. Most are universal, my Quinny footmuff fit three different buggy, I bought it in the black Friday sale so got a really good deal.

We had an Icandy peach (bloody loved it!) and my DD used the carry for twice & we used to just use the car seat instead & kept to the time limits. Also we had the footmuff. It's a lot warmer than a blanket and stays on!

Jojomamanbebe do footmuffs where you can unzip the bottom so muddy shoes stick out, means you can still use them for toddlers!

It is usually easier to wash blankets, I agree, I just found that blankets got kicked off so often that I was washing them constantly

I don't have that brand of pram but is always say defo have a footmuff, as it keeps them so much warmer. My lo hates blankets and always kicks them off, in the crib, in the cot, in the carrycot of the pram.
(My pram came with one that did both carrycot and pushchair. You unzipped it for the carrycot cover, then zipped the extra back on for the pushchair. I thought most were the same).

I've got the icandy peach. The official icandy footmuff I've found to be overpriced and rubbish. Zip quickly broke which they did replace in full but the same has happened to the replacement. Nothing like as cosy looking as some cheaper alternatives and not waterproof, I didn't research and just went with their one annoyingly! Now dd is 2 I doubt I'll use it much as she often has muddy wellies on - those jojo ones look great.

I tried the JL universal Footmuff on both the icandy peach and icandy strawberry, and it didn't quite fit properly, so ended up buying the proper icandy ones.

Only thing about the icandy ones is that they aren't as long as universal ones, so don't last as long.
