Hello ladies
I was unsure where to post this but decided I might get more replies in this section as all of you ladies are pg.
I'll make it short, I mc'd my first pregnancy at 6w in July and it was so devastating however I am doing better thanks to time and antidepressants. We have been TTC ever since but no luck yet.
I worry as first of all first pregnancy loss seems fairly uncommon and each time I've read about them they were mmc! My mc was not missed, I just started bleeding a bit, had a scan detecting a heartbeat (faint) but my cervix was closed, I then lost it a few hours later, passed the pregnancy naturally.
My question is, have any of you lost their first in this way and then went on to have a child? I fear this wasn't an chromosomal anomaly but rather my body's fault. Any stories or insight muchly appreciated at this point, I feel so confused and disheartened.

Sorry for your loss op, and also everyone else who has gone through it. It really makes you realise how common it is. I also had a mc in July with my first pregnancy at almost 7 weeks. I'm now 9 weeks pregnant again and really trying to stay positive although it is so hard after a previous mc experience. It's such a shame that it takes all the joy, excitement and naivety out of pregnancy and just makes it full of anxiety. I really hope you have some good support and are taking care of yourself and I hope you get your BFP again soon. I've taken hope from all the above posts that mc their 1st and are now far gone or had a baby :).

I'm sorry OP

I mc my first pregnancy, bleeding at 9 weeks but nothing had developed past six weeks. It took us almost two years to Concieve again, we were a couple of cycles from starting IVF - Unknown infertility. I am now 34+3. The first few weeks were tough, but we had a scan at 8 Weeks which showed a heart beat which helped. It was a very tough couple of years, I'll be so so happy when our LO arrives.

Sorry for your loss op.

I also lost my first pregnancy between 6 and 7 weeks- for some reason I found it easier to cope with the term (early) pregnancy loss than miscarriage.

I had cramps and bleeding, fetal sac showed on an internal scan but had shrunk when I went for a follow up the next week.

That was Jan 2015 and I now have a beautiful 11week old ds.

After the pregnancy loss we waited a while to try again due to me having to go abroad and then getting a new job. Started ttcing in sept and got pregnant in Nov. I was actually really stressed with work (and not being pregnant) and managed to conceive when my boss put me on a course to get out of the office for a bit! I really think stress was making my body do weird things

I mc first pregnancy started spotting at 12 wks, it was confirmed by internal scan that it had been anembryonic - there was a sack but it was empty inside.
I can remember being absolutely Heartbroken, at first decided to let things come away naturally but it never really progressed from spotting so went in to have medical management- pessery etc which was awful wish I had just had d & c would have been asleep and over and done with.

Had a couple of weeks off work then decided to get back to normal and I was pregnant 3 months later - have got 4 dc now - all pregnancys normal but of course I was very anxious throughout esp with dc1.
I think it is quite common with first- people at work told me at the time it had happened to them, also a few close friends mc with first.

I had a MMC with my first. Now 27 weeks pregnant.

From a slightly different perspective I'm a farmer at it is very common for sheep and cows to 'slip' their first pregnancy as well. A vet once described it to us as being a bit like a test run for their body to get used to the hormones and prep it to know what to do the next time round.

I found that a very comforting thought after my MC, more like it was natures way rather than 'why me'.

A first pregnancy miscarriage is probably even more common than anyone realises as many people who have an early MCs might just put it down to an odd cycle or a late period.

My older female relatives say that advances in home pregnancy testing cause a lot of unecessary distress for women who years ago would probably often never known they were pregnant in the first place.

Yes I did. I was 13 weeks and nearly died.

Piratepete1 · 02/11/2016 22:48

I had 3 early miscarriages then DD and then another 3 before I had DS....but I am old, DH's sperm is very deformed (so he was told at his sperm test) and my eggs are crap but we got there in the end Smile

I would add, I totally get what you mean about losing confidence in your body. I had SPD in pregnancy and a very intervention-ey labour but I got that trust in my body back from breastfeeding. I know that's not everyone's experience but it was amazing to me that my body could sustain, comfort, ease my baby's pain. I hope that your body gets a chance to show you what it can do Smile

SeeTheGood20 · 02/11/2016 23:27

Don't worry OP, I hope you get there soon :)
I had a mc first, followed by 2 healthy boys. They're now 1 and 4.

DeleteOrDecay · 02/11/2016 23:45

Yes, I was 6/7 weeks gone. It was awful and I will never forget it, but I have come to terms with it now.

I now have two healthy children, so it's entirely possible to mc your first and then go on to have successful pregnancies.

I am so sorry for your loss Flowers

My first pregnancy ended at 23+6 weeks. My 2nd pregnacy ended at 8 weeks and my 3rd pregnacy ended at 6 weeks.

My 4th pregnancy I got to keep my little girl ( nearly 2 )

My 5th pregnacy I'm now 34 weeks pregnant with another little boy.

Good luck x
