SMP and fixed term contract - anyone with experience?

Hi all, I am on a fixed term contract which ends around mid April and my baby is due end of March. I have been with the company for about a year now and should qualify for SMP and in fact, enhanced SMP. As I am currently deciding when to start my maternity leave, I am not sure if they will stop paying enhanced SMP once my fixed term contract ends.
Anyone else has been in this situation or knows anything about how this works?
