Early spotting and cramps - worth going to EPU?

I got a positive test on Saturday and by my calculations I'm about 4 -5 weeks pregnant. I had some spotting on Sunday that was very faint pink / brown. Yesterday it was slightly more pink but no red or fresh blood. I also had some cramps, fairly mild but noticeable. This morning the spotting has almost stopped but I had a few cramps in the night. I'm paranoid that my boobs are less sore and just have a bad feeling. I could go to a walk in at my local epu but I'm wondering if it's just too early for them to be able to tell if things are ok? I know that if I am miscarrying there is nothing that they can do anyway. I have a GP appt Friday so maybe I should wait until then. Has anyone been to an epu this early?

I went at 5+4 and saw the sac and a tiny embryo, but no heartbeat. Had to go a week later to see the heartbeat.

They typically ask you not to go unless the pain is unbearable or the bleeding is "period like".

It's really tough when you are anxious & uncertain but I imagine if you called, they would ask you to wait it out & see.

Some sporting and cramping is normal in early pregnancy - not common but not rare

Try and take some paracetamol to take your mind off the cramps, it might help you to not be thinking about it all the time. Hope all is okay for you.

Thanks, I'll wait it out and see my doctor on Friday unless anything changes. Think I just need to relax a bit and go with it. I'm not very good at being patience but I guess this is the start of a steep learning curve!

I had very painful cramps at 5 weeks (with a bit of brown spotting) so I rang the epu and they said it could be normal but asked me to come in as they wanted to rule out ectopic pregnancy. They found a sac in the right place and scanned again a week later to check for a heartbeat - DS is now a shouty toddler.

If you're worried I'd ring your EPU and let them decide whether they think a scan is indicated - at this stage I think they are only concerned where they see signs of possible ectopic.
