Did you drink it? And do you think it makes a difference in labour?

Have been thinking I'll give it a try, do I just drink one cup a day?

I LOVE the smell of clary sage, I can't wait to get my hands on it again, I was practically snorting the stuff last time :D

Apparently clary sage oil can't be used until the actual due date. I've just bought a 10ml bottle for just over a quid on ebay. It's almost a tenner in H&B!!!!!!

Is raspberry leaf tea unsafe for pregnancy?! I've been drinking it every day for years as A no caffeine drink option- I've just found out am pregnant- should I not drink it?!

Dixiechick17 · 11/11/2016 13:01

I had four cups a day from around 37 weeks, but I liked drinking it. I had a quick labour, went from 5-10cm in 90 mins, two hours of pushing though. I doubt it was the tea as had a weak cervix anyway, but it may have helped.

Panda89 · 11/11/2016 13:43

I drank a cup a day from 32 weeks. 2 cups a day from 34 weeks, 3 cups from 36 weeks and 4 cups from 38 weeks.
Combined with eating 6 dates a day from 36 weeks.
I was a FTM and had an 8 hour labour, on gas and air only. I have nothing to compare too, but I like to think the RLT and dates helped.

I'm only 5 weeks pregnant- so obv don't want to bring on labour! Is it something I should stop drinking as a general drink? I have the clipper raspberry leaf tea bags, have been drinking 2+ cups a day for years as I like it so much!

BreatheDeep · 12/11/2016 08:18

I didn't use it for my first and dilation from 5 to 10cm only took 2.5 hours and pushing was 15 mins. It's only supposed to help those stages. Don't ask about how long it took to dilate to 5cm (35 flipping hours of painful contractions)

datingbarb · 12/11/2016 08:24

I drank it in all 4 pregnancies from whenever they say it's safe (36 weeks or something) started with one cup s day and built up to 4.

All 4 of my labours were under 45 mins, very straightforward no stitches etc

Was it because of the tea? Who know maybe they would of been exactly the same without the tea

user1476183163 · 13/11/2016 08:28

Does anyone know if raspberry leaf is unsafe to drink in early pregnancy? Just the normal tea bags from supermarket (clipper it twinings)?
This is my first pregnancy so am clueless. I normally drink a lot of fruit and herbal teas. Are there others that are unsafe?!!

Cosmicglitterghoul · 13/11/2016 08:41

I drank loads when pregnant with DD1, had a long difficult labour and ended up with a ventouse so is it certainly didn't work for me. Didn't bother with DD2 as I was induced early. Trouble is you don't know if it's the tea or you had a straight forward birth. It tastes fairly disgusting so I wouldn't recommend it.
