39 + 2 today and feel so uncomfortable I can't believe this will go on much longer?! I'm exhausted from lack of sleep - I can barely even toss and turn now it's so difficult. I'm going to hospital for a first sweep tomorrow and thinking of taking my hospital bags in the boot just in case I need to stay there. It's my first baby so no idea what I should be feeling now. Baby was 3/5 engaged on Thursday. I have had an evening of mild contractions a week ago but nothing since. How are you all feeling? Just wondering if this normal at this stage or If baby might be on his way?

Hi Crafty, I'm 39 weeks today and definitely ready to not be pregnant anymore although the thought of the birth is scary.
Our baby girl was 2/5 engaged last Monday so she is getting ready. For the past couple of weeks, I've had some Braxton hicks and stabbing pains in my cervix and period like pains but I don't feel like my body is gearing itself up for childbirth. I'll probably be induced not long after 40 weeks but I desperately want to start labour naturally.
It sounds like you are close, hopefully we both are x

Yes. The torpedo on my abdomen is quite hard to manoeuvre so it's difficult to sleep or remove my behind from the sofa. I would like to meet this cute little tap-dancing rascal soon.

I'm 39+2 as well, and I'm seriously fed up! Walking around hurts, I'm not sleeping, and I have constant heartburn. I have a consultant appointment on Thursday and I think she's giving me a sweep then, I really hope my little girl decides to make an appearance before then though!

Hey, 39+2 as well! I'm so ready to meet my little girl, but also ready to not be pregnant it's been so much harder than people tell you. I have a section booked for Thursday because she's breech.
Sounds like a good idea to take your hospital bags op! Hopefully something happens for you Smile

Thanks for your replies. I'm so exhausted and uncomfortable I can't help thinking I have just got to have better sleep when the baby is born! Good luck those giving birth this week. Hope you get some sleep tonight. I hope my consultant can shed some light on my due date after the sweep.

I'm 39 weeks on Tuesday and so ready to have this baby! My first was born at 38 weeks so this is all new for me. Baby was 2/5 engaged last week but cervix closed so I couldn't have a sweep. Having a growth scan and hopefully a sweep on Thursday. I'll be induced on bonfire night if nothing works!

Neverknowing · 24/10/2016 17:46

I'm so done being pregnant I'm in so much pain with heartburn and trapped wind I can't even breathe. I just want to get her out now!

38+1 today and so over this pregnancy rubbish. DC1 on half term, so trying to keep him occupied enough without killing myself with pgp pain & exhaustion.

Funny thing though - rang my beloved MIL earlier but she missed the call. Just had a very freaked out callback - I think she was hopping around her hallway trying to get her boots on ready to fly over here :)

Not sure who was more disappointed!!

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 24/10/2016 18:07

Hang on. I'm 39+1 today.
Sweet!

Had my first sweep today and it hurt like hell! Having another on Wednesday. I dread the nights now, I'm so tired and can't sleep :( Dr thinks it will be another week.

Do sweeps hurt more if the cervix is closed. Mine was not fully open yet.

Cervix more closed, not completely closed, I mean!

39+2 today. Baby was engaged 4/5s last week, but still no sign of making an appearance as cervix was still closed. I think I'm going to go 10 days over and have to be induced.

crocodarl · 24/10/2016 22:07

39+2. Was crazy impatient about a week ago, have managed to calm down a bit though... ds1 was 6 days late and ds2 was 10 days late so have to accept it could be another 2 weeks yet, arrrghhhh! Have to say, this is the bit of pregnancy that really doesn't get any easier even when you've been here before!!!

LolaStarr · 24/10/2016 22:36

crafty I had a sweep with DS when I was already 2cm dilated and I didn't find it too painful, more uncomfortable. I'd imagine it hurts more if it's more closed. Having my first this time round on Thursday so I'm hoping I'll already be on the way again and it won't be too bad!
