Microwave steriliser

Sorry I know there's probably a baby product section but I only look at the pregnancy bit.

My query is, has anyone used a microwave steriliser before?
In previous pregnancies I've used the electric avent one but money's tight this time.
Just wonder if they are just as effective or crap?

Hav eyou looks at just a cold water one? Just get a tub and add Milton sterlising tablets. Lasts 24hrs

I had microwave with both of mine. As soon as he microwave pinged I made the empty bottles up so they were still sterile(ish) and then just added milk and water when they were needed. Mine took 6 mins and then that was it

I used one with no issues. I went a bit germ crazy though and sterilised everything multiple times and burned out my microwave. Totally me being looney rather than the product though.

I love mine it's so easy to use. I thought once sterilised the bottles were safe to use for 24 hours but I may be wrong?

I use the Avent microwave one - just waiting for it to finish now! Never had any issues and used with DS1 and now newborn DS2.

We use one and it's great. Got it for a tenner in the Morrisons baby event. Doesn't hold loads (about 3 bottles with all the teats etc), but that may be normal....first baby, first steriliser.

I used one for DC3. She's 11 now so no lasting harm. When she got a bit older I just used the dishwasher.

Tommee tippee one here, no concerns with it; I'm not massively fussy about sterile-ness though, we assemble them after microwaving and use them during 24 hours. It takes a degree in geometry to work out how to get 6 bottles in though, but I manage it dh doesn't

I've just started using a Nuk one (DD is four days old). I find it really convenient. 5mins at 800watt. And easily fits four bottles and their constituent parts.

My only advice is to ensure your steriliser will fit in your microwave (most 25l + microwaves seem to fit most sterilisers).

Quick question for all though: when we use our steriliser - it leaves condensation on the inside of all he bottles/parts -
Do you do anything to remove the water drops?

Think pink, I used to give them a shake to get rid of drops of condensation but nothing more than that. I thought drying with a cloth would stop stuff being sterile.

I'd rather a micro steriliser over a cold water one, as the cold water one smells a bit bleachy.

They are sterile for 24hours after. I had planned to breastfeed but had lactation failure so it was all unexpected. Dd had colic and I blamed myself and threw all of my energy into minimising the risk of germs. I literally lost the plot. At one point I cold water sterilised followed by microwave sterilising several times. There was absolutely no need to do that whatsoever but my anxiety got the better of me. This time if I end up bottle feeding I will microwave sterilise like a normal person.

We preferred a microwave one as supposed to an electric one as it was easier to take when visiting family.

I loved mine. So quick and handy and fairly portable.

Just measure your microwave. Ours barely fit in it.

I recommend a microwave steriliser. I agree you must make sure it fit the microwave as the 21L microwaves are normally far too small for them.
