Can baby go from average at 15 & 20 weeks scans to large at delivery?

Hi mommies! Quick question - what are your experiences in terms of babies' growth progress in pregnancy - is it fairly standard that a baby that's small initially will remain so at birth and similarly for average and bigger babies? Those of you who had bigger babies - were they bigger than average in scans also, or was it mainly due to late delivery etc? I'd be curious to know!

I'm expecting a little boy who's been measuring average on all scans so far (15,20,25 weeks) with a bigger head - however both me and partner were big babies so I don't know if my little one might go through a final growth period at the end?

My DS did. Everything about average at 22 weeks then he was 10.5lb ar birth! Either a late growth spurt or scans not v accurate or bit of both I reckon in his case.

DS born last week was on the 50th centile all the way through then came out at 9llb 13 😮

I measured at 50th centile throughout pregnancy 1 and had a 98th centile baby - 9lb 10oz

Mine were all average at the 20 week scan and weighed, 8.13, 9.7, 8, 11 and 7 lbs in that order.

My babies all measured normal at scans. Although when my tummy was measured with tape by midwife I always measured a few cms more.
I've had baby no.1 @ 38wks 9lb 5oz.
Baby no.2. 8lb 5oz @ 40+3.

Baby no.3. 9lb 120z @ 40+6.
Baby no.4. 10lb 6oz @ 40+4.
Baby no.5. 10lb 2oz @ 40wks.

My babies were both smaller than average at 20 weeks but 8Ib 11 oz and 9Ib 8 oz at birth.

At my 20wk scan our baby measured a bigger than average head too, but average/small on everything else. They said it could just be the angle of baby as they take their measurements but likelihood is it'll just even out! I've got another scan at 32wks as they think I'll have a big baby (as I have a slightly higher bmi so under consultant care), but I had the same situation with me DD and she was 6lbs13 at 39+5 when she was born! They aren't always right!
If they were at all concerned later on that baby might be bigger they'd send you for an extra scan so I wouldn't worry.

Ds gained 8lb overnight between a scan estimate and birth the next day Hmm. Don't think they are too accurate!

Sorry 8oz, that would have been a shock!!

Most of the variation in growth happens towards the end of pregnancy (hence being able to date pregnancies by the earlier scans) so yeah, could be anywhere. But also I had DS at under 7lb when babies in both families tend to the 9-10lb range, so you never know, baby might just be smaller. Good luck!

Catkind I was close to 11 lbs and partner about 8 even though he was 4 weeks early, my parents are constantly buying massive sized clothes for the child convinced their grandson will be huge but yeah I'm not so sure... He seems to be bang on in the middle every time we measure the bump.
