unhappy with midwife

So, saw my midwife today after being in the daycase unit over the weekend for sudden swelling in my hands and feet (bp, baby, urine etc all ok) Todays midwife was not my usual as I've recently moved to another catchment area, she got her student to check my BP, and when i proceeded to explain that Ive had increased discharge, intense and crippling back and lower abdominal pain, and that something just doesnt feel right she didnt do any further checks or ask any questions, just went on a LONG waffle about how I'm 'carrying a bit more weight' so should expect to be crippled by the end of pregnancy and that I couldnt take any more than regular paracetamol and that I would just have to 'get on with it'. Im in tears and feel so angry, and am not sure what to do as I feel like she just didnt care what I had to say. Am I being over sensitive? should I request another midwife?
ALSO after she read that I am actually a staff nurse she proceeded to go into great detail how much paracetamol I should take daily and other drugs that could interact with it Hmm patronising cow!

She probably explained everything in great detail because of the student, not to wind you up.
If you feel things aren't right do ring them up again, the swelling in combination with the other symptoms might mean more.

Will you be seeing that same mw throughout the pregnancy? If so then you can definitely request a different one.

Where I am you rarely see the same one at each appt.

She was being a jobsworth to try and impress the student. Mine tried to make me do a questionaire for a uni student to indicate my understanding of bf even though i had successfully bf all my ten kids!!
Ask for someone else via phone so you don't feel bad!!

Of course you can ask for another MW. And she should have checked you thoroughly to address your concerns.

But if you're very overweight she might have a point that pregnancy might be more of a strain. Sorry. But her manner in presenting that info needs improving.

I suppose it could have been because of the student, it just bugged me that no matter how many times I said, "ive had pelvic pain since 25 weeks and this feels different" and voiced my concerns about coping with the pain she just stuck with the assumption that its muscular and that I would just have to get on with it Hmm but then I have been SUPER emotional the past week and am worried I'm venting unneccesary anger and an innocent party Confused

And Im not very overweight, I was by no means slim pre pregnancy but I am by no means morbidly obese Confused

oh and forgot to add that, after insisting on more info regarding delivery if this pain gets worse she said "well you'll just have to get a c-section then" Confused Hmm

rant over! lol

That's an odd thing to say.
Very odd.
