Maternity wear- tell me what you have that you love

I have just had healthy 12 wk scan (after several heartbreaking mcs) so am feeling jubilant and v short of clothes to wear (already starting to show). Please give me any positive reviews of your maternity clothes, as I know there's plenty of rubbish out there.

I am pregnant with number 3, early days but I was thinking the same. Obviously after 2 other pregnancies I should know!!

JoJo mamon Bebe did some good pjs. I also got a good evening dress for Xmas parties.

Went in Mothercare the other day and looks like they've revamped their stuff as it was a bit plain when I was last pregnant.

H&M were good for basics.

Next we're good but just online if I remember rightly.

ASOS also good.

Expensive brands like Seraphine and Isabella Oliver look great but I couldn't warrant the cost.

Buy a load online from somewhere with free returns, like asos. I bought about 20 things in the mothercare sale and returned 17 (to store as you had to pay postage). Depends on your style and life and pre-pregnancy size/shape.

Purples is good for cheapish Jersey basics.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and scan!

I've ordered a LOT of maternity clothes online and sent a LOT back!

My favourite purchases are:

Zalando maternity chinos (great fit, comfy, smart, great value - like them so much I have them in two colours!)
Asos oversize shirt - non-maternity but the style is obviously roomy. V stylish
M&S maternity leggings (SO much more comfy and better quality than maternity leggings from other shops)
Next maternity PJs (pretty and comfy)
White Stuff tunic - non-maternity but roomy (hides bump, great with leggings)
Mamalicious maternity coat from Zalando

I've had the most success with Zalando, Next and Debenhams. A couple of bits from Vertbaudet.

Least success with H&M and New Look, didn't like the fit or quality. Didn't have much luck with Gap either although I usually shop there.

My maternity leggings from new look. They go upto almost my bra! Never in my life felt more comfortable!

Look out for Isabella Oliver sales, I got a brilliant dress from there for work for £30, wore it right up until I went on mat leave and it's still in great condition.

Seraphine is also good for work things and also has quite good sales.

Got a few basic t-shirts from New Look which I wore again and again.

Don't buy too much - a lot of your normal stuff may well fit you for ages (I'm 29w and have only needed to buy jeans and bras so far) and you don't know what shape your bump will be.

A black jersey skirt from Dorothy Perkins has been my saviour, it goes well for work and for casual.

What size are you? I'm about to pop and have some stuff that needs a new home soon

Purpless on eBay have fab cosy hoodies with a zip-in (or out) section to expand them. I really like H&M for over-bump jeggings.

I agree with stealth. At 29 weeks I've found a lot of the maternity stuff (tops/dresses) is too big on me and I can still get away with a lot of my normal clothes. H & M have been a godsend for jeans and trousers and their vests/plain tops also fit well too.
I suppose it does really depend on your shape and how you carry. I'm carrying quite low and my tiny boobs haven't really grown at all so it's mostly bottoms that I need to worry about.

I got an isobelle Oliver dress in the sale which was lovely and wore to death. I also had a few seraphine dresses which were great and very flattering for after birth as well - I had a summer baby and a section so trousers were out for a while afterwards.

My H&M jeans were great until the last few weeks, really soft and comfy.

Got lots of bits from asos including great pjs.

I think online shopping is the way to go, very few shops have maternity ranges in stock and even then it's limited - they only have the full range online.

The exception is bras. I got fitted at Bravissimo and it was well worth it. Their fitters are generally well trained and reliable, and they have a decent range of non-wired bras in larger cup sizes. I got a Panache Sophie bra (they do soft cup and nursing versions). Also went to M&S and got a 2-pack of non-wired sports bras which have been handy.

My favourite outfit is a cos navy dress with a brilliant neckline (nm) over a thin grey long sleeve top (Nm)grey leggings from Isabella Oliver (second hand) a grey waterfall cards from Primark (nm). Chelsea boots from clarks. Got some amazing things from fara kids, eBay, Facebook, Primark, Cos and h and m. Actually was better dressed in pregnancy than ever. Like you I had loads of mcs and have loved every minute of it. Am now 8 months.

What lovely and useful messages! I am normally size 10/12 with quite big boobs anyway... I'm now looking decidedly more porky... like a pp, this is dc3, so you'd think I'd know, but other 2 were a while ago and other end of the year...

have just bought jojomaman top on eBay, fit is lovely but I'm not sure I'd recommend a metallic sheen... it rather makes my tiny bump look much bigger... I love the idea of leggings- off to research m&s and newlook ones

I have loads of the long vests from primark - only a couple of quid and I wear them all the time under t shirts or jumpers so I don't need to worry about gaps. Ideal for BF too - pull down the vest and lift up your t shirt or jumper - easy access and you stay quite covered up too.

Skinny jeans from Next. They are lovely and stretchy with a meshy bit that goes over the bump (meshy material stops you getting too hot).

Jeans - mothercare over bump boot cut (found they stay up throughout pregnancy)

Jojomamabebe - dresses jersey, beautiful especially if you are not a pink/flowery person.

Nursing bra/maternity bra - hot milk found these at my local independent but mother care do them too. Left it far too long before investing in new bras, the relief was such that I wore a new bra out of the shop!

Never found much in shops had to do online and return, order loads of styles.

eBay is your friend too

Buy a maternity swimsuit/tankini it'll be worth it, floating later on in pregnancy is your friend

I've always enjoyed swimming but loving it now I'm pregnant.
I got a tankini in case I want to wear the top half in the birthing pool.
It was a nightmare finding one big enough for my boobs, though! Got an expensive Anita one from Zalando in the end.

I got maternity jeans from H&M and new look. They were really comfy.

Aside from that, I just wore regular tops, but just a couple of sizes larger.

Congratulations!

I'm currently 23wks and am loving my NEXT over bump ultimate skinny jeans...never have I been so comfortable! I had the under bump ones in the early stages which were also good but are now rolling over as my belly gets big! Have a look online in the sale stuff too as there are some good bargains there too!

Stay clear of the Asos maternity leggings as though they are really comfy they are flappy around the ankle and twist in the leg (at least the 2pairs I got did!)

Mothercare is good for basics and again worth checking out the sales!

Topshop over bump jeans
Jumper dresses (non maternity ) topshop and H&M, I have a couple of knitted stretch ones from H&M in a size up and a big red oversized chunky knit topshop one .
Also got maternity leggings and vests from H&M . Over size blouses are great for meals out .

Congratulations everyone!

I had 2 awesome maternity dresses from the Not So Tiny Vikings range at Tiny Vikings that I wore all the time. Flattering and amazingly comfortable and fun fabrics - you choose what you want and the lovely Anna in Glasgow makes it for you. Her site is offline today (school holidays - she does all the work herself so only takes orders during term time when she has time to sew while her kids are at school). But I think it'll be back up tomorrow or the day after.

She also does breastfeeding tops and dresses and gorgeous kids' and baby clothes - and not overpriced when you consider everything is bespoke and very good quality. Cannot recommend highly enough.
