Gastroenteritis in pregnancy

Morning,
Does anyone know whether getting this in pregnancy is any different to getting it at any other time? Is it a risk to the baby? I am 26 weeks pregnant and my MIL who we live with came down with it last night and I'm petrified I'm going to get it too. Does anyone know how to avoid it apart from lots of hand washing?

Thanks
Sue

I had it at about 16 weeks with ds2. It was very very disgusting, but i'm not sure it was worse due to being pg, as its not nice anyway. We phoned NHS Direct, got called back after about 6 hours , and they just said drink lots of fluids and it would be fine. It lasted 2 days, but I was to phone them back if it went to a third day.
