Felix.

Sorry for another name thread but we're really struggling to find a name we like and this seems to be one of the few names we agree on.

TIA.

i know a lovely one year old felix

scatterbrain · 08/02/2007 11:12

Splendid name - I'd use it.

DizzyBint · 08/02/2007 11:17

cat name.

also i knew a boy called felix and he was an absolute brat, so the name is tainted for me i'm afraid.

dh and i had to discount a lot of possible baby names on the basis of other people we disliked having the name.

WanderingTrolley · 08/02/2007 11:20

Honestly, not a name I like.

Agree with Tinker about where you live - there are dozens of Felixes around here - and 2nervesleft about schoolyard.

Whilst I think it's an ok for a baby or toddler, it's really uncool for a teenager, may well draw unwanted attention in the playground and not a good 'un for an adult either.

Sorry.

PS Oscar passes playground, teenager and adult test, IMO.

Thanks for all your opinions-much appreciated.

Glassofwine · 08/02/2007 12:33

I like it, but I also know a lot of Felix's - all 5 and under, so it's quiete popular

Troutpout · 08/02/2007 12:46

Bubbaloo · 08/02/2007 12:48

Honest opinion from me - no. First impression when I read it - yet again another CAT. Sorry!

foundintranslation · 08/02/2007 12:51

It's a very popular name in Germany (as is, indeed, Oscar). So I connect it more with 'oh no, too popular' than with cats. It's quite a nice name though. I like the feminine forms more - Felice/Felicia/Felicity.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/02/2007 12:51

I like Felix. As a name for either a boy or a cat .

Dophus · 08/02/2007 12:53

Love it and it is DS1's name.

We initially got a few 'no really...' but got far more 'great name'

No regrets 2 years on.

Roobie · 08/02/2007 12:55

I think it's lovely

NappiesGalore · 08/02/2007 12:56

are you still looking for opinions on this or am i late to the party?

WestCountryLass · 08/02/2007 13:42

I like it!

earthtomummy · 08/02/2007 14:45

I really like Felix. One of DS' best friends is a Felix and he's lovely - and v. far from posh. I'd use it.

belgo · 08/02/2007 14:46

Felix is a nice name. It's well known in Belgium.

BarbieLovesKen · 08/02/2007 14:55

Im sorry but if im honest, like you asked, imo its absolutely disgusting plus the whole cat thing.. oh no! yuck

MamaCampbellBlack · 08/02/2007 14:58

nope, sorry, I don't like it

TeeCee · 08/02/2007 14:58

My friends husband is called Felix and I've always thought it a lovley name. I really like it. She calls him Fee and I love that too.

MrsBadger · 08/02/2007 15:01

I like it - it's a bit poncey and I wouldn't use it myself, but I still like it.

docket · 08/02/2007 15:01

I like it, it's my nephew's name too. I like the name itself and like the fact it means happy.

indiajane · 08/02/2007 15:02

May be shortened to Fi - which is a bit girly.

Need to think about surnames too - does it go?

Flumpybumpy · 08/02/2007 15:03

These threads are so hard because if you say you don't like there will always be someone who pops on and says it's the name they chose etc....

FWIW I like the name
