White blood cells/ platelet levels

Hoping someone who concentrated more than me in Biology lessons may be able to help...

Had my 12 week blood tests back today and both my white blood cell count and platelet levels were higher than they should be.

The Gp dismissed it by saying that maybe I had a cold when I had them done but I know that I didn't. I'm having the tests repeated next week but should I be worried?

Also if I have got/had some sort of infection will it have affected the baby if its been left untreated for 5 weeks? (am now 17 weeks)

I know I'm probably panicking unnecessarily but if anyone can put my mind at rest that'd be great!
