Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi sorry to hear some off you are feeling shit again.

Blondes maybe something in the air? I was yacking again yesterday. I have a dedicated bucket by the loo.

Today's delight is nausea and dodgy bum. Thanks hormones, thanks.

Hope everyone else is surviving xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2016 10:57

Ok at mo. Still bed bed. Have friends hen do today and meal tonight so making most of stillness

Hopefully was just a hormone surge yesterday tho 3 times by bedtime

Sickness reassures me but don't like it 😷😷

Sorry you felt crap as well x

CastleFeck · 15/10/2016 12:46

Blondes I take my hat off to you braving a hen do, I just hide at home.
Ps I always read your user name as Blondes shave more! I'm an idiot

LucindaE · 15/10/2016 17:12

castlefeck and Blondes Many sufferers give their bucket/bowl a name - the 'Blue Bowl of Doom' etc.
LHReturns You are so right! If its naff, it stands a chance of not re-appearing. Oddly, there is something comparatively healthy that works for a few people. Melon; a woman on another thread I was on also put hers in a food processor, and froze it in cubes...

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2016 17:29

castle was a civilised lunchtime cream tea. Not a major piss up in 10 pubs

All was lovely. Dainty sandwichs - pies - scones and Jam - tartlets etc. Was yummy - but sadly saw it again lol

Bride to be said I looked queasy. But as usual once been sick I'm fine

Nowfor round two and dinner .......

Hope everyone ok 💐💐

And yes many read blonde shaves not blondes have 😂

CastleFeck · 15/10/2016 17:59

Lucinda my little black bucket is the family sick receptical. Many a weeping child has had their head in it. I'm thinking of sticking googly eyes and a smile on it and calling it Brian the Bucket.

Blondes sorry you had cream tea on repeat. I'm trying to hold tea down right now by sucking toffee and being horizontal.

Thanks for recommending naff food. I had a really good afternoon thanks to super noodles. Also got cup a soups on the shopping list. Trying to keep up the pma at the moment, I'm over the worst, I can only get better, it'll be worth it etc etc

Hope those who are in the early weeks are surviving.

LHReturns · 15/10/2016 18:16

Hi all!! Having a rubbish day (no childcare, little sleep, dogs smelling putrid, DH not doing as much as I think he could to make my life easier). But I am on my 8th Cuppa Soup in 24 hours and they are definitely helping both the nausea and my dehydration headache. Hats off to Blondes (Shave...).

My mother just called (she doesn't live in U.K.) and when I said how badly I was doing she said 'Oh dear. In my day we didn't have childcare so we just had to suck it up and get on with it. I'm more sorry for your poor husband! Is he miserable with all this?'.

Does anyone else have older female family who just DON'T GET IT?! The call was very short after this. She can absolutely fxxk off. Sorry, steaming about this.

fourcorneredcircle · 15/10/2016 20:03

I'm back... generally feeling more positive.
Today was a much better day, no cramps, no bleeds.

I did vomit six times before 11 am though... never have I been so glad to be sick as I was the first two times. The following four were another round of FML.

The only thing I can keep down easily is salt and vinegar crisps which I suck until they disappear... so I'm another one chiming in with junk food being the way forward. did not eat four bags

Thanks for your kindness yesterday, it's so hard when you can't get RL support without feeling you're jinxing it.

LHReturns · 15/10/2016 20:10

Yeah Fourcornered!! So happy you are back and feeling more confident. Flowers

fourcorneredcircle · 15/10/2016 20:16

I haven't told anyone other than my boss and my husband (both men who know better than to give unsolicited advice!) so no one has offered me ginger as a solution yet LH but I can understand the rage. Of course! We're doing it ALL wrong!!!

CastleFeck · 16/10/2016 07:40

Lh im sorry your mum isn't being being supportive. She must have no idea how bad it is. My mum had bad morning sickness and is very sympathetic as she knows how crap it is.

Four so pleased to hear you're feeling more positive. I missed it, how many weeks are you?

LucindaE · 16/10/2016 09:46

LHReturns Much sympathy; even hugs on offer if wanted. My mother was at a loss too.
Blondes Congratulations on braving a cream tea - sorry it reappeared. As Mother Hen on this thread, I appreciate all 'hen do's'. Silly joke; sorry, I am in a silly mood today.
Castlefeck I think 'Brian the Bucket' and a face painted on would be a great idea Smile.
I hope everyone is coping today.

LucindaE · 16/10/2016 09:48

fourcorneredcircle Sorry, I missed that. I am glad that the vomiting has been a reassuring sign.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/10/2016 10:17

Four - kwym about sickness. Hate it when here but then ahhhhh is bubs ok when not sick

Lh - so glad chicken cuppa soups working. I lived off them for weeks. Had to be chicken tho. Tried tomato - which came up within a few mins 😷

(which bb before bubs 😇) I loved and can't stand tomato soup now but love raw tomato

Lucinda - mother hen all you want. There's a pic on FB of hen do and as usual everyone saying you look so well - yeah that's coz I've just puked !!! Once sick feel fine

And yes lost dinner as well 'sighs'

Weird I now keep breakie down and feel ok in am's

fourcorneredcircle · 16/10/2016 10:27

Morning all.

Six weeks today! :o

Still hammering the salt and vinegar over here. I'm a vegetarian so while the chicken soup did nothing for me my brain did go "ohhh, you could have a stock cube in hot water" might try that around lunch time.

I'm using a washing up bowl (since every bucket we had stinks of cleaning stuff and makes it worse), been contemplating names. Thinking soapy-mc-boaky ...

FoxMulder · 16/10/2016 12:19

Hello, I'm doing a bit better in the last couple of days. 10 weeks now. Actually left the house yesterday! On combo of ondansetron and cyclizine. Mega constipated though. Lactulose not working, movicol is so gross, had one and puked.

LHReturns · 16/10/2016 12:34

Hello Fox...I LOVE to hear of better days by 10 weeks. I am 7.5 weeks and 10 weeks is my current mini goal (i.e. Can I get there without dying).

Fourcornered any cleaning products smell sends me running for the bowl immediately. Just writing it has caused me problems...

God I cannot wait for this to be over.

CastleFeck · 16/10/2016 13:52

Fox and Lh you're doing so well, I'm a bit further ahead, 13.5weeks and it has improved a lot. The constant saliva, the God awful taste, the constant nausea and killer exhaustion has gone now. I'm still sick, still nauseous, but it's so much more manageable. I just cooked an actual meal!

My big goal is now 17 weeks, which will be 9/11. I shall be blooming by then or I'll be hacked off.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/10/2016 14:46

Castle - 16.5 here and do feel a lot better. Yes I am sick 1/2 times a day but doing ok. I can't wait to 20w. Another scan and find out sex

16w wil come soon

Try vegetable cuppa soup? As long as no lumps

fourcorneredcircle · 16/10/2016 16:35

I tried veg stock cube and water, not bad actually! Veg cup soup could be a winner, and a better idea... my brain's not working blondes!
Also, you, fox and castle give me hope for the ten week/thirteen week/sixteen week/anything but the 40th week betterment!

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 16/10/2016 19:26

Can I join?
I started my own thread looking for help, and I got lots, including to come over here and speak to you lovely lot!

MotherofPearl · 16/10/2016 19:28

Glad to hear Fox and Castle are doing a bit better. Don't overdo it though; make sure you still get plenty of rest as we all know how tiredness can cause you to regress.
Ah Fox, the joys of Ondansetron constipation, I remember that well! I'm afraid that ime, after a while nothing taken orally helps, and - TMI alert - I pretty much relied on glycerin suppositories to 'go', especially in the first part of my pregnancy when my diet was so atrocious. They are available cheaply in Boots.
LH, sorry to hear about your mother's lack of understanding. Mine was very sympathetic but then she suffered when she was pregnant with me, and like many other HG sufferers (including Lucinda) she experiences bad migraines (which I've luckily avoided).
Four, so glad things have settled down after your scare on Friday. Salt and vinegar crisps were always a winner for me too. Anything salty did the trick and I'm afraid I sometimes had a few flakes of seasalt on their own! Blush
Blondes, your cuppa soup recommendation has clearly gone down a storm! That's often salty too, come to think of it. A non-salty good idea that Rae always recommends is tiny ramekins of dry rice crispies - nibbling a couple at a time when nothing else stays down.
Hope everyone is managing this evening. I wonder how Fresh is doing, we've not heard from her in ages? I think she and Rae are near the top of the due dates list now.

LucindaE · 16/10/2016 19:57

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets Welcome. I looked at your post on that thread, and gather that you're suffering badly and did last time and are not on meds now but will contact GP on Monday for some. Please don't worry about the safety aspect, GP's will never prescribe drugs that could hurt the baby, and dehydration is a real hazard if it goes on too long. On which, have you got any kesostix to check for dehydration, available from any chemists?
Not sure what liquids you can stand - are ice lollies, sips of coke, soda water, ice cubes, elderflower water or chocolate milkshakes any good for you?
I can't improve on MotherofPearl's comments, as ever. Glad Fox Castle and Blondes are feeling a bit better (comparatively!) though sorry to hear that the vomiting is still going on for Blondes Four That sounds a fine name for your puking bowl! Grin
I
