I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

ICanTuck I believe - though I'm not medically trained - ketones first show up through dehydration, but as your body gets starved, later on its often lack of food. It's very confusing,so you have to look out for other signs too later on, like dry skin and headache and confusion, plus of course, you'd know if you hadn't been able to keep down liquids in twenty-four hours.
So sorry about crying and desperate feeling. Hugs on offer. It's very isolating and hard to bear.
happydays Poor you! I so agree with others about omprazole and ranatadine being worth a try. I was told there only gaviscon was safe, but that is simply untrue, and the acidity does make the sickness so much worse.
LHReturns Oh dear, what a fright that must have been for you and poor LO! Sorry milkshake was no good that time.
Blondes That sounds horrifying. At 6am hopefully the motorway wasn't too busy? Sorry about such a horrible day. I hope today is a lot better. However did you manage at work in the early weeks if you work as a nurse?
Castlefeck That drink of water trick sounds a good way of avoiding the pain of a bile run. Sorry you are having them.
Purplefairy Ah, I see. That was a ridiculously badly managed piece of hospital policy! I'm glad the first decision was overuled.
MotherofPearl I hope all is well with you. Your advice is greatly valued.
I hope everyone is managing today. Watch me cross post.

Just a quick hi, hope today isn't too vomitus for you all.

Thanks so much to whoever suggested cup a soups. I'm loving them. They are perfect for snacking and lining your stomach to keep the nausea at bay.

Got a urine infection now. Hoping the antibiotics don't set off the sickness and dodge bum again. Apart from that, I'm now 14+1 and actually feel human again.

LHReturns · 20/10/2016 15:00

Hello all.

I have had my first 'good day' in a long long one so I LEFT THE HOUSE. I showered and left the house. The lights were bright and the world was noisy (I was scared) but I did it.

Went for a walk and had a nice 8 week scan which helped a lot. She even showed me in 3D which was thrilling until she informed me that what I was sure was already a lovely chubby thigh was actually the cord. Blush

So basically still just a blob with flapping webs at the bottom and giant head. So that's it now until Harmony test at 10 - 12 weeks. Chromosomal abnormalities send me into orbit with irrational anxiety.

Back to feeling rancid this pm (afternoons are my terrible time). Constipation is thrilling. With the lack of water I genuinely don't know how anything will ever come out of there again. Just feels totally 'set'.

Would love to hear some updates from others. How are you all doing?

Boobs is your day improving at all?

Castle you can take your 14+1 and shove it up your 'human again' dodge bum. I was all happy with my 8 weeks but look at you!!! I have so much trimester envy....well done tho.

fourcorneredcircle · 20/10/2016 18:08

dances to celebrate LH's great escape and scan.

I've not had such a good day. Nearing the normalising evening hours now though. Haven't been able to keep anything solid down. Existing on water today!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2016 20:23

Mother. Yes went to bed early last night. Was shattered. Throwing up really takes it out of you

Boobs. It is miserable but hopefully will get better. Try and eat something. Hunger made me feel worse and be sick more. And keep saying throwing up bile is worse then food

Lucinda - I'm a maternity nanny means my own baby should sleep and in early weeks the sickness was 6am/1pm. Basically morning but afternoon and evening I was ok

So worked. Slept when baby slept and then often would leave their home and throw up in my car on their driveway or on way home. Most jobs local

Apart from current one. Hours drive and yes m23/m25 busy at 6am.

Castle. I take the credit for cuppa soups 😂😇 just seemed to work with me. Food and kinda liquid on one go

Lh. Yah for leaving the house. You seem the opposite I was. Crap am but pm ok. So go out am and then chill out pm. Put tv on for ds and rest/doze and yah for seeing blob 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2016 20:25

Ps today was fine. Ate drank(well water) and be merry

At work - baby is asleep. Of course 😇😇and hope driving home tomorrow won't be the same as yesterday am 😷😷

Ps

Four try and have ice lolly so way to get liquid in you if really can't eat

Or

Try the magic of cuppa soup

MotherofPearl · 21/10/2016 09:03

Just dashing on to say that I'm going to be away for a week from today and without internet access (spending half term in a cottage in the deepest darkest Western Highlands Grin). Will be thinking of you all and will catch up when I'm back. Wishing you all as vom-free a week as can be expected.

CastleFeck · 21/10/2016 10:04

Have a good time pearl

Lh great news about blob and your escape. You'll be no tri2 soon I know it's shit though being stuck in tri1

Gotta go feel sick

LHReturns · 21/10/2016 10:59

Thank you Castle. You know, I am SO bunged up I could easily pass for Tri2...maybe even early Tri3.

Gotta go feel sick here too.

LHReturns · 21/10/2016 11:01

Have a lovely break MoP

Blondes you are a goddess - maternity nanny while pregnant. I need MY OWN maternity nanny right now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2016 11:07

Enjoy break mother

Lh 'blush' not quite goddess lol - but never had a baby I've had from 2/3w not sleep through and in a routine

But

Many have told me it's different as own baby and emotional heartstrings are pulled

If my own bubs doesn't sleep I will never hear the end of it .........

MotherofPearl · 21/10/2016 12:35

Thanks all. We're in the car so making the most of fleeting 4G signal! I just wanted to say to LH: sorry about the horror of Ondansetron constipation. I know I'm always revoltingly banging on about this, but have you considered trying glycerin suppositories? They were a lifesaver for me, and are cheaply available in Boots. Just a thought...

LHReturns · 21/10/2016 13:01

MoP, DH just got me some glycerin suppositories (romance is HOT here), and about to shove one in right now. Very excited....thank you for the reminder!!

fourcorneredcircle · 21/10/2016 16:30

Hello again all. I'm thankfully keeping liquids down much better and have managed to eat some toast and crackers.

Enjoy your hols mother. blondes I missed your line of work before... looking forward to top tips next June ;) and errrr, LH just think... it'll be nice to sit on the toilet instead of hugging it...

CastleFeck · 21/10/2016 18:13

Holy fuke buckets blondes, is that with breast fed babies too? How is that possible, mine didn't sleep through until they were 5 (years not weeks or months!!!,!) I'm a total wimp and just let them cosleep and boobied them to sleep until they were 2 (yrs again) I'd be like your worst nightmare.

Hope you have pooped LH

Glad to hear you're doing ok four

Another week coming to an end and another we've all survived.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2016 18:44

Sorry I meant if I have babies from 2/3w I get them in a routine and doing 11/7 by 12w and 7//7 by 16/20w. Many before but that's a rough guide I give parents

And yes has exclusively BF babies in routine and sleeping 11/7

Lost breakie and lunch 'sighs'

Hope it's not going to be ok day sick day ok day sick day et

Tho still much better then was so not moaning

LHReturns · 21/10/2016 19:16

Blondes do you know if you are having a boy or a girl? I am pondering whether my afternoon/evening sickness is indicative of anything entertaining....

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2016 19:21

No. will find out 3w time. Everyone thinks bubs is a boy

I have no inkling

LHReturns · 21/10/2016 19:51

My sickness was much worse in the morning with DS. Fun to speculate!!

I am feeling so bad this evening...nanny finished for weekend, so somehow got through bath/dress/milk/teeth/story without an enormous horror scene. You know that feeling that the throw up is definitely coming, but not imminent. So when??

LHReturns · 21/10/2016 19:53

Immediately after the suppository I did a fair sprinkling of what can only be described as driveway gravel. It's a start I guess. I am seriously blocked. The button and entire zip of my jeans is undone.

LucindaE · 21/10/2016 20:28

LHReturnsI am happy you had a trip outside and the pleasure of a scan. I am glad the suppository worked (partially). Great advice from MotherofPearl as ever. MotherofPearl Have a lovely break, we'll miss you. Blondes That cuppa soup idea was a goddess-send! Wink
Castlefeck Sorry to hear about your urinary infection. Fourcorneredcircle How nice of you to do a dance to LHReturns'
outing when you feel awful.
Sorry to hear of bad days...Hopefully tomorrow will be a lot better.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2016 20:39

Yep know that feeling. Sadly haven't had dinner yet so ended up chucking up stomach acid and bile

Said it before. Much prefer eating then being sick 😷

Now I know what the babies I look after who suffer from silent reflux feel like :(

SleepymrsE · 22/10/2016 08:14

Morning all, sorry for lack of posts - and sorry to hear so many are suffering. Only a really quick one to say those suffering the hell of reflux, ask your GP for omeprazole (or ranitidine) as this will help significantly - or at least it did with me until the very end of pregnancy. Also, LH, pleased you are trying to get on top of constipation. That's a really good idea. I was still constipated at delivery and had to be given an enema (not pleasant when fully dilated).

Hope everyone manages a decent weekend with less pukes and more rest!

Hi to lucinda & mop, hope you have a good holiday. Really hoping rae is doing ok.

LucyHMK · 22/10/2016 09:44

Hi all,

I'm having trouble posting on this new thread, not sure about the others. Hope Rae is okay.

Sorry to see so many new people on here, hope it gets better for you all soon. Lots of great advice as ever.

I finish work on the 18th of Nov & one week before that is leave. Really struggling to keep working now the sickness is getting worse. Nothing quite like being kicked in the ribs whilst vomiting. What joy!

Sending love to all 💐

LucindaE · 22/10/2016 12:21

SleepymrsE Thank you so much for dropping in. I know you are busy!
Great advice about meds for that dreadful acidity; it makes the sickness so much worse. Blondes Sorry to hear about that bile. I know how you feel.

Lucy I am concerned it is difficult to post - is that to do with technology or your feeling bad? Being kicked when you are down is not good - at least when the kicks are so hearty, it's a sign that the tunnel is near its end.
I think you deserve a medal for battling. in. Did you treat yourself to a real hair hairpiece in the end?
