High foetal heartbeat - more likely to be a girl or a boy?

I know some midwives think there is a difference, but I can't remember which way round it is! My LO has a relatively high heartbeat. Is it pink or blue, do you reckon?

Supposed to be higher for a girl.. mines was 160+ for the first 20 weeks of pregnancy... 2 scans later he definately has a tail.... no mistaking it!!!

I'm not sure what others may think but I'm sure your heartbeat must have something to do with it, and what you have been doing prior to being monitored.. ie walking upstairs, jogging..

My dd 's was always around 150-60 and ds was around 140.

marymillington · 07/02/2007 11:39

high for girl 140+
but ds's was consistently above this so don't let anyone do too much gendered knitting!

Higher heartrate is supposed to indicate a pink one. MW told me that with DD (and got it right!) I thought heart rate was lower the next time and it was a blue one!
Either lucky guesses or something in it, I'm not sure

dejags · 07/02/2007 11:41

My 2 DS's were always consistently around the 135 mark.

DD is always around the 150 mark - so higher for a girl in our case.

feetheart · 07/02/2007 11:43

Not sure if your heartrate has much to do with it. I was always legging it across the park with a toddler in tow for appointments when pg with DS, always arrived knackered and his heartrate was low!!

Biglips · 07/02/2007 11:44

my dd was 130 all the way thru from the start to the end

dressedupnowheretogo · 07/02/2007 11:44

mine was high and i had a girl mw said she was pretty sure too used to sound like a gallopping horse rathan a train

twoplusone · 07/02/2007 12:24

dd was 160+ and ds 145-150.. this lo was 146... indicating boy form the other two but have feeling it is a girl!!!

chipmonkey · 07/02/2007 13:37

I think if it is consistently over 140 it is a girl, if it is consistently under 140 it's a boy and this rule is correct around 70% of the time.
All 3 of my ds's were 135 ish

Thanks for all the replies. My baby's heartbeat was 160, so I will let you all know in a few days time whether this worked!
