3rd section-how long did you stay in hospital?

Just as the title says really. This will be my 3rd section, first was emergency and stayed in two nights afterwards and my second was a planned section had him 9:34am and was in Burger King drive through 11:30am the next day, I would have asked to go home at 9pm the same night if OH hadn't already left the hospital. Just wondering how long people stayed in after their 3rd section?

Especially interested in anyone who went home the same day, were you discharged or did you discharge yourself?

I had two nights with all mine. I can't imagine they would let you go home the same day. It takes a while for the spinal to wear off for a start. Even if you are planned for early in the day you often get delays as emergencies are prioritised. Mine were straightforward but I think I was better off having two nights in. Good luck!

I stayed 1 night after an early morning planned section with my 3rd. I pushed for it because I thought I needed to get home to my other DC.

I really wish I'd stayed longer, I believe it made the recovery harder. It was a straight forward section.

I doubt you could go home the same day. I had my second c-section at 10.30am (spinal block and epidural which they said is standard for second c-sections) and didn't get out of bed until the next morning. Not sure I could have done it sooner. All very standard, no complications. I stayed in two nights and I thought that was pretty quick to leave! But you may be made if stronger stuff :)

I just had the spinal with both of mine and no epidural. My first I had late at night and was got up first thing the next morning. My second had him 9:34am and was supposed to be up out of bed by lunchtime but they were understaffed so I had to wait a bit. My friend was also up lunchtime after being in the morning. I have spoke to one Person who claims she went home the same day but she apparently was discharged and didn't discharge herself which I find hard to believe.

I am more than happy to discharge myself and will be doing so if I feel as well after this one as I did my last one. I had no painkillers afterwards other than what I had been given in theatre. My other DC will be away for the first couple of nights so I will be much better off being at home where I can get a full nights sleep and chill out, something I will not be doing if I have to stay in if my last two experiences are anything to go by. It would take a lot for me to agree to staying on a maternity ward ever again.

OMG how did any of you manage this?? I have had three sections and could barely walk 24 hours later. Total agony despite codeine, oramorph etc. I wonder if we're just built differently or something. Admittedly after my last section I lost a lot of blood and spent time on a drip/transfusion but I was still grey 24 hours later.

I was discharged after 48 hours but it was too soon for me - bed at home too high to get onto, sofa too low, it was even hard to get on the loo.

I guess we're all very different.

I can't imagine they would let you out the same day BUT if everything is fine, you should be home the next day. I came home the next day after both mine. Discharged 36 hours after my son was born by emergency C-section and 23/24 hours after my daughter was born by planned C-section. They wanted me gone for the space I think as my local hospital is very over stretched. When I arrived at the hospital to have my daughter they asked if I wanted to be home the next day, I said yes if everything is well. 23 hours after she was born they come round to discharge. Yeah I don't think they will let me out the same day either but if I am as well as I was last time I will be discharging my self. I'm going in with an open mind as I know I may not be as well or that things can go wrong but as long as everything is ok I will be leaving. I'm not stupid I know my own body and what to look for in regards to infection etc we are max 10 minutes drive away from 3 major hospitals, I also know I will be looked after a lot better at home than I will be in a hospital ward.
