Bump touching

Does anyone find it uncomfortable when others touch oand/or want to touch their bump? I'm 18+5 and have had a couple of people just touch my bump without asking and one close friend who I knew would touch my bump when she next saw me after I told her I was pregnant. I rub my bump all the time but find it really strange when others do it

I don't understand what they are expecting? The baby doesn't know morse code. My stomach feels exactly as it looks. I find it odd.

A MALE colleague touched my bump at work on Friday! Some people clearly have no boundaries! Confused

MeMeMeow85 · 23/04/2018 07:58

MIL comes up behind me and cuddles bump from behind. I hate it hate it!!!

But even that isn’t as weird as an old cab driver telling me that he was “going to rub your belly when you get out for luck, and then I’ll buy a lottery ticket” Confused. I escaped really quickly!!

I think it’s lovely 😂 clearly the minority though!

If someone who you don't know or you didn't give permission tries or does touch you it's actually accrued as assault and sometimes with intent as they could have something in their hands to cause harm.

Someone tried with me and due to security training I ended up dislocating their wrist - now ex boss as he was fired for the above.

So, anyone comes near you then clearly state 'touch me without permission and it's your hand that's broken'.

Unpopular opinion but I think it's nice :) In France old women come up to you to stroke and even kiss the bump! Much more touchy feely culture than in Britain, I like it!

SprinkleSomeSparkles · 23/04/2018 16:17

Mil did it the other week and she could tell by my face I was not impressed 🤢🤢🤢 it's my bump no one else's, obviously hubby goes without saying!

Baby2018 · 23/04/2018 16:19

My mum does it to me whenever she sees me, this is her first grand child so although I dont really enjoy it I let her. If a stranger did it Id be very weirded out!

gingernut123 · 24/04/2018 16:03

I love DH touching it but don't like anyone else doing it.

My MIL does it every time she sees me, has never asked and it drives me mad! I was so shocked the first time I didn't say anything so now there's no stopping her.

@elland - I was in tears at my MW appointment today because of this. I get so many comments daily from people telling me how huge I am, looking horrified when I tell them how long I have left or asking if I'm sure there aren't twins in there. It's really getting me down.

SVRT19674 · 24/04/2018 18:42

I like it, but then I'm half Spanish and they're much more naturally touchy feely than the British. And yes old wives superstition says it's good luck to do that. I'm enjoying myself actually. Smile

Blushlove · 29/04/2018 11:31

@AKP79 I had it constantly throughout, it made me so mad, only when your pregnant do people feel it's appropriate to comment on how big someone is!

I was trying to give away tickets to a show that I couldn't go to and one woman I offered them too said "good job you can't go, you wouldn't fit in the seat" and laughed her head off Hmm

I knew my bump was big, I knew my body was rapidly growing and gaining stretch marks in places I hadn't even contemplated without people pointing it out and making me feel even worse. That big bump has now turned in to an 8lb 7 baby boy that is still a bit of a chunk now 😂

Blushlove · 29/04/2018 11:32

Only when *you're 🙄

RosaBaby2 · 29/04/2018 16:06

I don’t mind at all and I’m English. A lot of people do it and then say “Oh sorry I should have asked” I think it’s nice, I’ve even had strangers lean down and talk/shout to the baby through my tummy which was just hilarious!!

HellaBella0 · 29/04/2018 20:17

Maybe I'm weird but I really like it. I don't do it to other people because I know other people don't feel the same but I just love it. I wouldn't say I'm a particularly touchy feely person either (other than with DH)

Seahorse146 · 30/04/2018 13:33

I have had a lot of this recently.
It came as quite a shock at first, I was just like 'erm, do you mind?'
but now it doesn't bother me as much.
I do sometimes get annoyed with people randomly talking to me though. Leave me alone, I am just trying to buy some lunch, I don't want to discuss my whole life story at the tills at Waitrose! :')
