Placenta at the front

I am 16+5 and went for my 16 week check today, we heard the babies heart beat (very cute) but wasn't very loud so my midwife thinks I my placenta could be in front the baby - I have my 20 week scan in October 20th so hopefully find out more then. Anyone else have the placenta at the front? Xx

My placenta is at the front too. I had reduced movements and went into hospital with that and few other issues and i got told thats prob why movement had changed/reduced.. but since then ive had loads if movement. They just take a bit longer to find the heartbeat..

Now 35+2, aside from not feeling movements until later (one end of week 19, but regular from week 23) it's caused no issues, I get good strong movements, heartbeat always heard even if takes a minute or two more to locate in first place

I'm having di di twins (20 wks) and both placentas are anterior, at the front. I use a Doppler at home and have no problems finding the heartbeats

Yep, I've got an anterior placenta, and at 19 weeks I only just started feeling little thumps. I don't think I got the flutters/tickles that I was aware of.

Yep just took longer than some to feel movements - about 25 weeks I think and then just "popping" sensation first. They are much stronger now at 34 weeks and heart beat is easy to find.

Yes. Me. Didn't feel anything till 24 weeks but when you get bigger it doesn't make such a difference. You'll see it at the 20 week scan.

Yes same here, have an anterior placenta with twin pregnancy this time, had the same with three previous pregnancies so much just be where the placenta likes to be in my body!!! At 23 weeks am feeling plenty movements now but only in the past couple of weeks at the most. They should be able to tell you at your 20 week scan. They don't listen to the heartbeat so early in our area so that's nice you got to hear it!

Me too. I'm 35 weeks tomorrow & it's caused no issue so try not to let it be a concern. As others have said, I just felt kicks a little later & its sometimes difficult to find the heartbeat but its always healthy & strong when found - just needs someone patient finding it. Kicks are also strong & frequent now too.

I've got one too - only thing mentioned to me was that I might feel movement later than usual.

Me too! 30+4 and only awake now because the baby has been kicking so much.

He's 3 now but I had this, felt very little until about 22 weeks. All turned out fine.

It's very common. I've had an anterior placenta with both my babies. I still felt movements just fine. With my current pregnancy it's very low so I'm at risk of placenta previa. But the anterior element isn't an issue at all.

I have an anterior placenta, felt no movement until 26 weeks and at the 31 week midwife appointment, reinforcements were called in to find the heartbeat.

Yes it doesn't affect delivery.

Yes - as a PP said, it's only a concern if you have a low lying placenta/one covering the cervix. Anterior is no issue.

I have an anterior placenta, my midwife was supremely unconcerned! In fact I only know where my placenta is because I asked at my 20wk scan, I was told that "as long as it's not blocking the exit we don't worry about it"

It does mean that movement is cushioned a bit, some days I feels loads and others very little, I think it depends on where little one is and where they are aiming their kicks! Worried me at first but again my midwife said that at my stage (24wks) with an anterior placenta she wouldn't have been surprised if I hadn't felt anything at all yet, which made me feel better. I still wait to feel kicks with each meal time and before bed just to be sure everything's ok.
