Reading the posts on here I am wondering why I haven't been offered a Whooping Cough vaccination (23 weeks).

Will call the doc tomorrow.

Any other vaccinations I should ask for while I am there?

I had my 25 week midwife appointment yesterday and it was only then that I was told to make an appointment for the whooping cough vaccination. She said they usually do the flu one at the same time.

Flu and whooping cough are the only two but both of them were ones I had to arrange. Your maternity notes should say about them and if your midwife is anything like mine she will say the onus is on you to read them.

Thanks both. I hadn't spotted it in my notes about whooping. My next appt is not until 28 weeks so will jump the gun and ring ahead now to get it sorted.

Whooping cough is usually around the 28 -32 week point, which is perhaps why it's not been mentioned to you. Ask at your next appointment.

Flu jab - get when it comes in to your GP at the start of the flu season. Should be anytime now. Might be worth ringing to see if the receptionists know when and with whom to book an appt.

You can have whooping cough jab from 20 weeks now. The midwife mentioned it to me at 16 weeks appointment and said it's up to me to book with GP. Just go ahead and book with your GP

Ditto the above, wasn't even mentioned to me until 28 week appointment and got booked in for it 1 week later so all good,

It was the past week at 32 week appointments they mentioned flu jab, but in my area it doesn't become available until 24th September so I'll be ringing in a few days to book in for that also :)

Whooping cough was anytime after 28 weeks but has recently been changed to after 20 weeks but it's taking time for GP surgerys and midwives to get that filtered through. Just call your surgery and ask to book in for it with the practice nurse.

I had to arrange my own whooping cough vaccine, midwife mentioned it at my 28week check but I'd already booked in. It was my gp surgery who did it, not the midwife. The gp wrote to me about my flu vaccine.
