Food Poisoning at 12+5

Just wondering if anyone else has has food poisoning around this time. Went out for a meal last night within a couple of hours felt awful, Had pains across top of my belly, vomited and had the runs did not have a temp but felt reall really bad. Does anyone think this could have been harmful to the baby??

unless you have a really extreme case of poisoning, i think you will be fine....make sure you replenish the fluids you have lost and take it easy for a few days....has the pain and d & V stopped now?

No, a senior nutritionist who specialises in pregnancy nutrition at one of the biggest university nutrition department in the country told me that if you vomit then don't worry - the kinds of food poisoning that cause harm (listeria) cause flu symptoms (eg high temp, shivering), not vomiting etc. Relax!

I was writing a feature about it at the time btw.

No idea but I had salmonella (really unpleasant, five days of d&v) when I was 25 odd weeks pregnant and she's fine.

The fact you had vomiting and diarrhoea so quickly means that the toxin (or whatever it was) wasn't in your system for very long, which is encouraging.
If you're still feeling dodgy today it might be worth saving a poo sample and seeing the GP so they can send it off and check it wasn't anything really serious.

Otherwise just keep yourself hydrated and I hope you feel better soon!

Honestly, please please don't worry. The worrying form of food poisoning (listeria) does NOT cause vomiting.

The vomiting etc has stopped thank god just feel funny in the belly which is prob just hunger now xxxxxx
