pg with no 3 and having bad period type cramps for over a week - the sort that meant onset of labour at week 39 with the other 2. Really can't face prem baby with dh working abroad and no family local to help with boys. Has anyone else had these twinges and did they go away? MW says breezily 'don't worry, your uterus is probably just more sensitive this time around'.... do you think she could be right?

MW could be right. IIRC you do tend to feel things early/more with subsequent children. However if you are at all worried get yourself checked out. If the baby does come early you will have no control over it, but the sooner you are seen the better chance for the situation.

I would get checked out if they are crampy/painful - especially as you know what labour feels like already. Braxton Hicks shouldn't feel like period pains.
I had this with DS1 at 28 weeks and was kept in hospital with suspected early labour for 9 days. I was given medication and it settled down, but he still arrived at 35 weeks.
As tutu says, the sooner you get seen the better - even if it's just to put your mind at rest.
Good luck x
