Shooting pains up my bits!

I keep getting shooting pains up my bits, I rang the hospital earlier as I was concerned about movements. Mentioned this and she said it'll be my ligaments etc near public bone, but it actually feels like it's inside my vagina! Sorry I hate that word 🙈 😂

Google SPD op, it's not uncommon in late pg and it's really fecking painful - I had it and it's not anything to worry about - it just really hurts!

Moonrocks6 · 10/09/2016 18:27

It's horrid isn't it.
I refer to them as knitting needle up the bum/ foof.

Lovelongweekends · 10/09/2016 18:28

I think someone referred to them as fanny daggers earlier! I'm getting them, I think it's the baby trying to engage or pushing on a nerve. Bloody hurt though!

I'm only 21+3 😱 she did say it can happen earlier the more babies you have, this one is number 3 x

Fanny daggers is definitely an accurate description!

I've been getting these!! Fanny daggers describes them perfectly! My midwife said it was ligaments!

Lovelongweekends · 10/09/2016 18:31

I'm on no.3 as well and this is the first pregnancy I've had them!

Tumtitum · 10/09/2016 18:31

I've also heard it described as something like vagjna lightening! Or something like that. It's something to do with your cervix

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 10/09/2016 18:32

I've been getting this too! It's a very strange sensation...

CreamTeaFor4 · 10/09/2016 18:35

Sounds like SPD, have a look at the pelvic partnership website. I had it during my first and only pregnancy, ended up seeing a physio (referral by midwife), wearing support belts and massive tubigrips, eventually on crutches for the last two months. Not the worse case I've heard about (plenty in wheelchairs during their pregnancy). I (mostly) recovered a few weeks after the birth though. Hope yours won't be so bad Flowers

God yes. Horrible shooing pains. A knitting needle up the fanjo is a very good description. I still get paranoid as I may have an incompetent cervix (having cervical length scans every few weeks) so any twinges I put down to that and make myself worry. Now I see so many of us having them relaxes me a bit!!!

I've had this since 6weeks 😩 I'm now only 13+5 but have horrible aches and pains in my hips and a lot of stretching pains.
This is my 3rd pg and I only had this carry on towards the end of my 2nd!
I've been referred to physio and a reflexologist so hopefully they'll help me manage later on! tell me again why I thought #3 was a good idea!
