Do you recommend a 4D scan?

This is my 3rd and final pregnancy.
I'm wondering whether to have a go at a 4D scan. The only downside is the cost. Where I live it's £160. That's a lot of money that could go towards something for the baby.
But this is my last chance and wouldn't want to regret not doing it if it's totally worth it.

So im asking, have you had one? Was it worth the money?
Have you looked into one?
Anyone not pleased whose had one?

I did with my first- personally I don't think it's worth the money. Maybe if it was £50-£60 I would but not £160 ( same as what we paid)

they look foul in them. like alien figures sculpted from ear wax.imo the ecstasy of seeing my baby for the first time might've been tainted had i had that as my first glimpse.

What did you get for the cost and how long were you in there for?

£160 is loads - they're around £100 in our area. Have you looked on Groupon for special offers? They're always doing discounts if you look about.

It was really valuable for DH to feel a connection with the baby. Less so for me but worth it for him. And very weird!

It was about 40 mins- a lot of that was spent trying to coax babies hands down from his face. We got a dvd of the scan and 8-10 pics. They done a lot of health checks on baby too and give us a print out of them.

We had one, paid about £90 for the package. It was a present for my Dms birthday. We enjoyed it but they do look like plasticine babies, I've been calling ours 'little melty face' since. I wouldn't have had one if my dm hadn't mentioned the notion. I think I made the sonographers job harder too as we were adamant we didn't want to know the sex. My favourite bit was hearing the heartbeat as it was the first time.

I'm 28+5. Scan was done at 25+2. Here is little melty face.

Audrey that made me laugh so much! I had a glimpse in 4d at 16 weeks and wouldn't pay for a proper 4d scan. It is brilliant technology and really clever but I do think the images are a little weird.

Have you checked Groupon? I'm in the North West and there's a few on the app for around £50/£60.

I was unsure whether to book one or not but we've decided to go ahead at week 28 so the baby should hopefully look more like a baby than an alien!

We got ours on groupon for £60 and really enjoyed it! It's a nice thing to do as a treat but I wouldn't pay £160 xx

I loved mine. I would have stayed in that room forever. For various reasons I had to have my scan right at the last week recommended (30 weeks? Don't remember) and she did look like a proper baby. She looked very much like herself and even smiled several times. I know babies are not supposed to smile but she did! It was an amazing experience and worth the £125 we paid a few years ago. DD loves looking at herself on the dvd!

I wish I had had one with DC2, I wonder if it would have helped DP feel more involved with the pregnancy.

I had one at 29+5 weeks. Absolutely LOVED it and would definitely recommend it. We went with Babybond at jesmond and it was £130, in my opinion worth every penny!

I had one with my third pregnancy only.

It was lovely.

I went at 22 weeks and was a bit apprehensive, but he def. looked like a real baby.

Didn't want to know the sex so the sonographer told us to close our eyes as she went over that bit.

Took our older 2 kids with us as well. The room was dark with soft music. Much much better than an NHS scan. Even the 3D scan felt more special privately.

I paid £40 for a 2D scan and £90 for a 4D. Didn't bother with DVD or special prints, just half a dozen small ones that came with the basic package.

I've recently had one in this, my second and last pregnancy for the same reasons you list above. I wouldn't pay full price but got mine for £39 via groupon. 1/2 hour appointment cd of all 45 images and 2 print outs.
