Anxiousness

I'm pregnant for the 2nd time. My ds is 8. I'm delighted.

However I'm a basket case. I'm anxious and can't relax. I'm unable to concentrate on anything. I'm imagining all sorts of scenarios.

I could go for an early scan but I don't know would that solve the issue? If everything was OK then I'm guessing I'd be happy that day but worried again the following day.

I'm annoying myself at this stage.

I'm usually a cool calm person.

I could write your exact post!

Pregnant with DD 2 (22 weeks now) and have DD1(6).

I've felt anxious pretty much the whole pregnancy, firstly over the baby, then relaxed a little after the first scan, then it kicked in again but I felt more reassured about the baby after the 20 week scan.

But now I'm still feeling anxious about other things, money, baby, health, work etc etc.

No words of wisdom unfortunately, just you're not alone.

I felt better after the first scan as it didn't seem real somehow. I think it's the knowing change to the house dynamic but it will be fine
You need to speak to your midwife when you see her about this
I used the natal hypnotherapy cd for relaxation in pregnancy and that helped me

EreniTheFrog · 04/09/2016 13:16

Like the PP, I found natal hypnotherapy really helped. Anxiety has always been a problem for me, too.

Thanks to you all. I'm due to see my gp tmw and will mention it. I'm hoping the next 4 weeks will fly by until the scan

I am feeling exactly the same - only got my bfp on Friday and although I feel so so excited I also feel overwhelmed with the fear that it can’t be true/that i’ll loose it. I think I have spent too much time on the conception board reading about chemical pregnancies and miscarriages etc. I just keep reminding myself that loads of people have loads of children with very few problems.

How do you even go about having an early scan? Can they really tell anything?

EreniTheFrog · 05/09/2016 08:11

From reading the experiences on this board, it seems that early scans don't necessarily reassure. Before 6-7 weeks, there's not necessarily a visible heartbeat, and between 8-10 weeks, there's always a high chance of miscarriage regardless of scan outcome. Unless I was actually bleeding, I would always wait until the NHS 12 week one..

I'm in Ireland so possible to pay for an early private scan.

As I said I don't think it would work anyway. .......unless I had one everyday!

Just to update. I had a scan today. I'm 8 weeks and saw the heartbeat. Delighted.
