Did the sonographer tell you there were twins? IME unless you are the one wielding the scan probe it's very hard to say what you are looking at.

Yeah the midwife said they will be identical the scan was private and I am going back for a re scan

There are two types of identical twins - ones who share a placenta but have separate sacs and ones who share a placenta and a sac.

Does your sonographer think the twins share a sac? How far along are you?

I'm rubbish at reading scans and my 12 week scan with my DTs wasn't very clear so maybe the next scan will be clearer. Best of luck Flowers

Yeah sharing the same sac, she' thinks twins but that scan was done at 7weeks 5 days so going back thank you

My scan was at 13 weeks and was clear it was twins. Congrats!

To me that looks like an embryo and the yolk sac, this is what all of my singletons looked like early on the placenta then takes over and the other round blob disappears. I don't understand how she could 'think' it was twins because at seven weeks and five days they should have had a heartbeat. Did both of the blobs have a heartbeat? Im not a sonographer but the top righthand sided one does look the yolk sac and not another embryo.

I hope you get some more answers soon.

Just to show you what I mean, this isn't my scan because unfortunately the hospital doesn't give early scan pictures in my town, so this is a Google images one of a seven week embryo and yolk sac...it images as two things. Hope it makes more sense with the image.

Yeah I see just throws me as there's a clear line between them if it was a yolk sac they wouldn't be a line
