If you 'announced' your pregnancy on FB when did you do it!

I'm 14.5 wks pregnant with #2. It was around this point last time that I put something on FB. I haven't had the chance to tell my boss yet but once I do I guess I could then announce it, I'd be 16 wks.
For some reason I'm feeling more cautious about it this time though. I'm 39 and last pregnancy was fine but have noticed a tendency for people I know on FB not to announce their second and all of a sudden a baby appears! (Obviously I'm talking about people I don't see much).
I'd like to announce something but just wondering when others say something.

My original plan was after 12 weeks . .

We'd had an early scan at nearly 8 weeks and all looked good/ strong heartbeat, so I told my Mum and Dad . . A couple weeks later We then threw my mum and dad a surprise party for their 40th anniversary . . My mum got so blotto'd she told everyone there as she was so excited (good job I love her!) so just decided to announced around 11 weeks, now 32 with our first little girl

I haven't announced it on Facebook yet but plan to after my 20 week scan.

The problem is, I have a lot of Facebook friends, some of whom are actual friends but most of whom are just people I used to know!

I've already told most of my family and friends (I'm 14 weeks) so the Facebook announcement isn't for the important people, just the people I haven't got around to telling.

I know a lot of people post scan photos on Facebook but I'm not a fan, personally, as I think scan photos are only really interesting to immediate family and maybe best friends (if they've already had a baby - the ones who haven't don't really get it!)

So I'm still thinking about how to announce it on Facebook - maybe with a bump photo of a baby outfit

I'm one of those people who a baby just appears - I've never announced any of my pregnancies on Facebook.

I've also noticed that actual announcements now are few and far between (although maybe we're just stopping having babies now!)

I'm 14 weeks tomorrow with number 6 and we have agreed not to tell anyone at the moment. I've always announced it either at 12 weeks or before in my previous pregnancies but I know it won't be well received, we'll have to grin through all the 'are you mad' comments and such and I find that so negative and exhausting to be honest.

Not sure when we'll tell people, probably not until the baby's 6 months old at the rate we're going

When I started showing, so 20 weeks ish. Hadn't told work until then so had kept in very quiet. Saved us having to phone/text lots of people. Didn't post any of our many many scan pictures though.

I announced it at around 14 weeks I think. I wanted to wait until after our scan and after we had told our family and close friends. I'm creative and like to craft so made a scrabble inspired picture to post. I made the one announcement and I've not posted any scan pictures. We aren't planning on revealing the gender on fb either.

I had such severe hyperemisis that most people knew (or at least guessed) I was pregnant. I "checked in" to the local maternity unit after my scan just to see if people would clock what I meant!

I didn't make any announcements on fb at all last time or this time, my brother kindly posted a picture of our son before we had a chance to do so though! Still a bit annoyed with that but he was just excited!

Technically I still haven't (34wks tomorrow), although I did post about going to the triage unit and listening to the labour ward noises (it's on the LW at our hospital) so kinda outed myself. My sister posted an 'I'm going to be an auntie' announcement and OH's mum and dad posted gp announcement (mine aren't on fb). Too much else going on to be worried about people tbh...

I posted a pic of my bump a week before the due date.

I announced at 20 weeks. I didn't really want to do the whole announcement thing but felt people were giving me a funny look thinking " is she pregnant or just getting really bloated" too polite to risk asking.

I haven't yet and am 36 weeks! Was going to after the first scan and the second but wasn't sure how to phrase it.
Dh has done and did a photo college of the ds and the scan picture with 1,2,3 on each child.
I have had some adorable booties made for me so tempted to balance them on my huge bump and post that- or just wait a couple of weeks for the actual baby!!
Most friends know and school run mums etc it will be those whose numbers I have lost or who live abroad who won't know

I'm 12 weeks on Monday and have my scan date.
Dreading telling work so will leave that til about 16 weeks
Then may say something as a status after that. No photos though.

12 weeks with DD1.
I publicly announced with DD2 at 10 weeks after a strong heartbeat on a scan. Then we found chromosonal abnormalities at 12 weeks and we lost her at 16.
DD3 we waited until after 12 weeks and after we'd got the test results back from the nuchal.

That's one of the reasons I'd like to wait until after the 20 week scan. If there are any problems I will of course talk to family and friends about it, but I won't want to tell all my Facebook contacts.

Did the Facebook announcement thing 2 days after my baby was born. I'm a bit meh about scan pics on FB but each to their own

Thanks all. I'm thinking after the 20w scan as I'm on FB a fair amount so it would feel strange not saying anything. But I agree on not posting pics or revealing gender - didn't do that with first either. I have a few American friends who not only post pics and reveal gender but also reveal the name! And refer to bump by their chosen name which I find strange.....but obviously a thing over there.

I wanted to wait till 12w but DF couldn't wait

We did scan with tiny 'blob' and heart rhythm saying we were overjoyed

But

All were thrilled esp that 99% of them achieved naturally and easily , what we had struggled with and had taken so long.

Yes it's early and yes risks but we decided that if something did happen then everyone would know why we were so heartbroken

If had got pregnant naturally and 10yrs ago then probably wouldn't ha e said anything till much later - maybe 20w - maybe not at all

But me finally getting pregnant is amazing

Some of these are so tender it makes my heart swell!

I am 8 weeks but DH really doesn't want an 'announcement' on there as it's not how he uses FB so we won't say anything. I always really love seeing them though.

After 20 week scan, posted a pic of my til 'baby on board' badge. Obvs close family and a few close friends knew before then.

Prior to posting on fb I also emailed a couple of friends separately, who I knew might find the news difficult.

If we have another, I don't plan to announce on fb at all. Much rather shock everyone with a new baby pic!

I'm not putting anything on FB. While struggling with infertility and then treatment, seeing other people's announcements was once of the things that I found the hardest. As you never really know what others are going through, I want to avoid potentially upsetting someone. All the people that NEED to know, have been told personally.

We didn't announce on facebook - I feel too old for that now but I had bump pictures posted by family at 27 weeks so I guess that's a form of announcement?!
