Did you have any signs or symptoms before your labour started. An example is back ache, urinating more or sickness. Please share what you experienced before your contractions started. I have got horrible back ache and nausea and just curious if I have just done too much today.

Diarrhoea Grin

Sorry

I felt like I was going to have the squits! That kind of tummy ache where you know it's going to turn into a bug. Obviously it turned into a baby instead!!! Midwife said that symptom was really common.

Ohwoolballs · 10/08/2016 20:09

Like NeedACleverNN it was a big case of the poops, which was actually ace as I had been constipated the entire third fecking trimester

Then two hours later I had three contractions and my waters went. Six hours later a baby came!

No other big signs really.

Dull slight period pains and tightenings every eight to ten mins was my first sign, two hours later contractions, and five hours after that my DD arrived. Looking back though I had a bloody show that morning and irregular painless braxton hicks throughout the day.

Iloveapplepie · 12/08/2016 23:25

Feeling of keeping needing a poo, going and not needing one. Then feeling like I was getting tummy pains. They went on for an hour before I realised they were contractions

spacefrog35 · 12/08/2016 23:26

I was really irritated & restless, finally settled on the sofa for a nap & pop, my waters went Hmm

FV45 · 12/08/2016 23:34

Number 1: Period type niggles, increase heart burn (Tums totally let me down!!), dodgy tummy. Wasn't sure it was "it" though until I lost my mucous plug.

Number 2 was simply slow and steady increase in contractions. Only when someone in a shop asked if I wanted a seat did I think "oh maybe this is the real deal". 3 hrs later he arrived.

UnicornPee · 13/08/2016 08:38

I too had the runny poops. My body literally cleared itself out then contractions started. From start to finish (poops to giving birth) was 8 hours

MrsRhubarb · 13/08/2016 10:42

I just woke up at 3am with a contraction, lay in bed and five minutes later another one came and by lunch time baby was here! I had been niggling for a week beforehand with on-off contractions, but an evening on all fours wiggling my hips with my birth ball seemed to finally get her in the right place for everything to get going a few hours later.

Autumnsunshinebaby · 16/08/2016 17:11

Massive unexpected explosion of my waters in bed in the middle of the night!

AddictedtoGreys · 16/08/2016 17:39

Watching with interest as I am just waiting for the main event to happen too!

TheInternetIsForPorn · 16/08/2016 17:45

I had none. Both times waters went, then about half an hour later I started with pains, then shortly after had a baby. In case if number 2 VERY shortly after Grin

Good luck all of you waiting.

NappingRabbit · 16/08/2016 17:56

Mild backache like really mild period pains. It was a few hours before I realised it was coming and going but I had to really concentrate to notice it. Contractions started in earnest a couple of hours later.

Jayne266 · 16/08/2016 19:18

For those of you who went into labour did it happen naturally or did you try anything to start it off?

My water breaking was the first sign with DC1. It was a trickle and proper labour didn't start until 15 or so hours later.

With DC2 again it was my water breaking but it went with a gush and labour was much faster (2.5 hours compared to 20 hours).

TheInternetIsForPorn · 17/08/2016 06:58

First time it happened shortly after cleaning all my floors vigorously and enthusiastically on my hands and knees.

Second I was running around after his sister all day.

I did spend lots of time sitting on my ball every night with both of them. But that was just for comfort not as an exit strategy.

Eminybob · 17/08/2016 07:05

Waters breaking in a proper splash.
I had no prior inkling, and as it was 17 days before due date I really wasn't expecting it.
The contractions started exactly one hour later.

michelle388 · 17/08/2016 07:09

Before both of my labours started, my mucus plug became loose the day before and then within 12 hours i was in labour.

LolaStarr · 17/08/2016 07:20

I lost my mucous plug right after having a sweep, then the next day I started with contractions. They weren't just like niggles or period pains either, I knew exactly what it was from the first one, it bloody hurt straight away!

LynseyH · 17/08/2016 11:50

Interesting thread!
I also had to run to the loo and had a large bowel movement, quite a nice relief! But before that I had an insatiable appetite. Night before my third, I ate everything I could possibly get my hands on!!
I didn't try and trigger labour as mine have all come in the 39th week. Pregnant with 4th now and hoping for the same!
