Had 8 week TV scan this morning and there were two sacs!!
But couldn't detect embryo or yolk in either of them.

What does 2 sacs at this stage mean? This is my 2nd pg and didn't have a scan until 10+wks last time.

Also my dates may be up to 2 weeks wrong, so is it OK that there is no yolk sac or embryo right now?

Have got to wait a week.....(and I've never been any good at waiting) - I'm scared!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi

I know it can be too early to see anything at 6/7 weeks so if you are only 6/7 weeks that might be why they can't see anything in the sacs? it is very early - try not to panic, I know it is hard, good luck.

my midwifery text books all say that 2 gestational sacs is an indicator of a twin pregnancy.

and if you are not quite sure about your dates it may be too early to trace a fetal heartbeat yet.

good luck and congrats!!

Twins, did you order two lol? Don't panic about not being able to detect embryo's yet, still very early days. Congrats by the way

bump

the thing is that DS will only be 15mo when the baby/ies is/are born
but if next week there is still no yolk or embryo, then what happens?

I had my first scan at 5 weeks which showed two sacs but nothing in either.

Second scan at 6 weeks showed yolk in one with little tiny heartbeat!!

Apparently it is quite uncommon to get a heartbeat at 6 weeks, it's a bit early.

They thought then that what they first thought was a second sac was actually probably a little bleed, maybe implantation, ie quite normal.

Try not to worry, it's hard if you ain't sure on dates but you should see a heartbeat soon and it will be great xx

Hi Zam,
I'm 13wks with twins now - on my first scan there were 2 sac with an embryo in only one of them. 3 wks later there were 2 embryos, one 24 and the other on 25mm. So just wait and see...
Good luck!
