I am 26 weeks and this morning have started having a thin brown discharge, no particular pains as far as I can tell but am really worried. Is this normal, havent had anything like it before.

If it's brown it's likely to be old blood. I had similar when I was about 6 weeks pg and it turned out to be nothing. I think it's quite common, but they always say to get it checked out.

It could be something like cervical erosion (common in pregnancy due to changes in the cervix) but its best to get it checked out by your GP/midwife.

What is the worst it could be? I know that the time to be worried is when there is red blood but I cant work out what could cause old blood to be there. Have a few uncomfortable twinges now as well but dont know if I am just being paranoid.

I had this, at about the same point, and it was caused by thrush.

See your GP and put your mind at rest.

Thanks for the reassurance, I think I will try to see my Midwife today to check things out. Have backache and a headache (probably due to anxiety) but baby has been moving around as normal so nothing really, other than this, to indicate that something is wrong. I have heard of this in early pregnancy but not at this stage.
