Another growth scan - measuring small

Hi all

Posted before about always measuring 3/4 weeks bigger. Had a growth scan previously and all checked out ok.

Have seen midwife yesterday and I'm now measuring 28wks at 33wks. Have been seen in labour triage for the last two weeks due to high blood pressure but not yet on treatment as my diastolic is sitting under 100 (averaging 92-96). Blood tests - specifically urea - has come back high normal so they're also keeping an eye on this.

I'm miserable with SPD and the swelling in my hands/face/feet. Also have horrendous headaches that have been persistent for the last 3-4 days.

Got a call today to go into hospital tomorrow morning. They will do a growth scan and also booked for medical assessment. Not much has been explained but I'm getting really upset tonight. Baby is moving perfectly so I don't know why I'm getting myself so worked up. Think I just need a hand hold and possibly told to get a grip! Anyone else been through this??

Latest urine result still showing protein but my bloods have came back good thankfully. I feel like a Pin cushion but at least they are keeping an eye on me.

It's only recently our guidelines have changed for diastolic >100 for treatment. Must be very recent as my community midwife was really shocked when she was told by the hospital midwives.

Yes when I had high blood pressure back in January they didn't medicate until either reading went over 150 or 100. Blood pressure rises naturally towards the end of pregnancy so I wouldn't be surprised if it slips above 100. Have they got you being checked weekly? I had to have 1 community midwife check and a hospital check every week. Make sure they are on top of it.

I had preeclampsia and iugr with my first pregnancy ten years ago.my son stopped growing around 26 weeks and was born at 32 weeks weighing 2 lb 12. He's now ten years old and is five ft tall with size seven feet. He is healthy, sporty and very clever. He was in scbu for three weeks and then we stayed in a midwife unit for a week to establish breastfeeding as he had to be tube fed at first. I don't under the general reluctance to diagnose preeclampsia. Mine wasn't actually given a name until the night before my son was delivered by ceasarean, despite having all the symptoms. My friend just had a baby six weeks ago, and they didn't even tell her she'd had preeclampsia until a few days after his birth. She was being kept in extra days and when she told me her symptoms I asked if she had preeclampsia, she asked a midwife and they said yes. They hadn't even told her.

Just out!

BP is high (140/94). Phoned consultant at our triage and they've had a look over my blood results. My Urea has steadily been rising the last week. I've had 4 blood tests and each reading is getting higher although I don't know what the actual numbers are.

Got more bloods done today. They will phone me by tomorrow morning with a plan. All I know is I'm on weekly checks until I deliver. And may have to start treatment for BP.

I feel rubbish and my face is all puffy. Recent stomach bug won't have helped either. I wish they would just tell me what's going on and make a definite plan. 34 weeks now so thankfully not much longer to go

Hmmm I'd want my BP checked more than weekly, do you have the option to check it at docs surgery? If you have protein in urine and BP above 140/90 you have pre eclampsia according to NICE. I would push for checks at least twice weekly when you speak to them tomorrow. Sorry you are feeling so crap.

Thanks Celtic

Midwife phoned and said my urea levels have dropped which is good. Consultant has advised I've to have weekly checks so back on Monday afternoon. No mention of pre eclampsia etc but if I'm honest I think i could have the start of it. Or at least something is happening. Still got a headache and I'm really tired today (more so than normal)

Hospital aren't that concerned and are happy to review everything on a weekly basis. Midwife did suggest a pregnancy massage to help relieve any stresses and pains so might give DH a few hints! Grin
