Thrush - is the cream any good?

So I'm 23 weeks pregnant. Prone to thrush. I have another bout of it. The doctor gave me cream to treat the problem.

I'm just curious- I read the cream doesn't treat the symptoms inside the vagina. And I know they're reluctant to prescribe the pessery or the tablet whilst pregnant. So... Does the cream even work to get rid of the infection?

I had constant thrush when pregnant and had the pessaries AND cream. Try and book an appt with another GP

I had several bouts during my last pg, the cream soothes the itching somewhat but doesn't actually cure it. I used the internal cream stuff which cleared it up properly but I went and bought it rather than getting it on prescription. IIRC you can't take the oral capsule when pg.

I had constant thrush through 4 pregnancies. Yes you can use the pessary. And the cream. No you can't use the oral tablet. See the doctor again

I've been prescribed the pessary 3 times this pregnancy, cream alone didn't touch it!

Pessary is fine in pregnancy but you should insert with fingers rather than the applicator. You just shouldn't take the oral tablet

The internal cream works well imo. Just be v careful putting it in.

Definitely need pessaries - a course of 6 (one per night for 6 nights) is recommended in pregnancy. Only thing that worked for me. Go back to your GP and ask.

Definitely need the pessary. I've used it lots during both my pregnancies. See another GP or buy it over the counter.
