Midwife Appointments (Scotland)

Quick question if anyone can help :)

This is my first pregnancy, had a Midwife appointment at 24 weeks and next one is booked in for when I'm 30+2. In my mind I thought there was one at 28 weeks?

Do you have your notes? Page 4 of mine and they have ticked the appointments I need to attend. This is my 2nd but I had bloods taken at my 28 week appointment

I think if you are a low risk second pregnancy you randomly miss one, which could well be the 28 week one. I am pretty sure I was feeling a like I wanted to hear the heart beat again another appointment so just rang the midwife and got another appointment. I am in lothian.

West Scotland here, just checked my notes and it's ticked for:

Midwife at maternity unit at 8 (bloods taken) and 14 weeks.

Midwife at GP surgery at 16, 22, 28 (second lot of bloods) and 36 (more bloods)

Scan at 12 and 20

That was all ticked at my first 8wk booking in appt based on a low risk singleton first pregnancy but my plan has totally changed now as we found out at 12wks that I'm high risk due to twins so I get more appts/scans.

Just reread your OP, did you have the 22wk appt at 24wks instead? Might be why the 28wk one is at 30wks?

I'm in Fife and have scan & bloods at 12weeks then nothing until scan at 20weeks. I'm sure the midwife said at booking appointment she'd not see me again until 24weeks

Hi, I think April could be right, but did you have the whopping cough vaccine at 24 weeks? I think that 30 weeks may be too late.

You can have your whooping cough vaccine from 20 weeks till 32 weeks which is the idea time but if you forget you can still have it right up till you go in labour, it's maybe just less effective :)

Oh also, if OP hasn't had the vaccine yet it's the practice nurse and not the midwife who does it, at least here I had to make an appt for the nurse as I was leaving the surgery after my 22wk appt. OP could just phone and book then for whenever.

you normally get bloods at 28 weeks; appointment should just be with midwife. Can you call and just make an appointment?

SeashellHoarder, I had my Whooping Cough Vaccine at 29+4 because they forgot to tell me about it. They told me as long as its before 30 weeks I would be OK. I just made the appointment with my Practice Nurse

That's interesting, April, I remember there's a cutoff for it getting to baby in time.

So I eventually managed to speak to someone. I was right I should be seen at 28 weeks so they've brought my appointment forward.

Thanks for all the responses. I also checked the front of my book and the weeks that I should be seen by midwives have been ticked so I will know for future appointments!

Re whooping cough vaccination, I was advised by midwife at my 24 week appointment to make an appointment with the practice nurse to have this which I have done.
