I'm 6 weeks today and therefore only really been pregnant for 2 weeks. I've had 2 m/c (third time lucky- DS is a superstar) and constantly paranoid that i have no symptoms so have to adopt the "take one day at a time" attitude. But its so hard. A pregnancy week is officially the longest week ever ever ever..

Dont go worrying yourself that wont do you any good. Just relax and try and not worry too much

Always have a problem with the 9 months thing myself. A month is four weeks - not four and a bit. Am totally with the American view that it lasts 10.

Bodkin · 26/01/2007 21:07

Yeah, but it's not even 9 months is it, as by the time you find out, you are generally 4 weeks gone, so its 8 months by my reckoning... Silly Sally - you really are 6 weeks, so halfway through the 1st trimester. That's not so bad. Hang in there!

I might be being thick here but if a month was exactly four weeks, then 1 year = 52 weeks = 13 months? So it is 4 and a third. Seriously, am I being thick and missing something? Sorry if so.

and, yes, the last week has felt like three!

sillysillysally,

totally agree. It's weird the way time distorts - if we had an exam coming up in a week's time it would be a different story altogether.
I am only 5 weeks and 2 days, and me & dp said on Thursday that we couldn't believe it had only been a week since the bfp - it has felt like ages.
I had a m/c too, so I am trying to take it one hour at a time and say to myself often through the day 'you are pregnant, you are pregnant, you are not bleeding, you are pregnant, you are pregnant' etc. etc. That does keep me calm to some extent, though on the whole I am ridiculously jittery.

It is such a long time. You are soo right the week is a long one, but they do get quicker (a little) I remember being like you what feels like only a few weeks ago and now I am 24+1 weeks, still feels like a lifetime in front of me, but the weeks that have passed now feel like they've flown.

Try not to use the whole 9mth thing. It is not, it is 10 based on a 28 day cycle. If you can get out of that and think in weeks it'll make it easier. A to term pregnancy is 37-42 weeks. Ignor the months and focus on the 40week mark. Or in my case 41weeks France like's to be different.

Good luck to those of you wishing the weeks away. xxx

I completely empathise sillysally! I'm officially 6 weeks based on the LMP date but I know that we conceived on boxing day so I'm all confused! I've had 2 m/c's so I now how you feel and rubles, I do exactly the same! (you're pregnant, you're pregnant, you're not bleeding and you're pregnant!).

I've always worked on the 40 week idea because it seems to work in my head for some reason. Both my DS and DD were 8 days over my due date (not sure if that's relevant or not!?).

My milestone is 10 weeks as I have m/c'd at that point twice now. I just want to make it to 12 weeks, then I'll be able to get my head around it. The idea of surviving like this for another 6 weeks is mindblowing!

Take care and hope all stays well with you all! xxxx
