Looking for positive stories about short luteal phases please!

Since having DS my luteal phase seems on average 10 days. I've read mixed reviews about whether or not this is long enough to conceive. Can anyone give me any positive stories about conception with a short luteal phase please? Just to try and keep my hopes up whilst I'm trying Grin

Since having my coil removed my luteal phase was consistently 12 days but did drop as short as 10 days for a cycle. I'm currently 16+5 weeks pregnant and if it helps to reassure you the cycle before i conceived had the 10 day luteal phase. As I got pregnant the following cycle I have no idea if it would have stayed at 10 days or gone back to a 12 day luteal phase.

My LP ranged anywhere from 10-12 days. The cycle before I fell pregnant it was only 9 days- period started lunchtime of 9DPO. Currently 24+4 and have had quite an easy, uncomplicated pregnancy! Might be worth trying some high dose vitamin C tablets- I was taking 1000mg a day (boots do high strength ones) and fell the second month taking it. I think I suffered with low progesterone, and in some small clinical trials, the control group taking vitamin c has had a higher rate of ovulation and a higher rate of pregnancy.

Thanks both. I'll look in to the vitamin c thing!

Good luck with your pregnancies Smile

Hi, I have a 10 day long luteal phase too. I've fallen pregnant quickly twice (4 months and 2 months). Both times it has been after starting to take a vitamin supplement with b6, which can extend it by a couple of days.

Thanks French. Did that extend your LP?

Hi Malbec, 9 day phase for me, month before we started ttc I started high dose vitamin B complex, don't know if it lengthened it, as fell pregnant first month of trying!

Mine was 9 days and I fell pregnant on cycle 4. Had also started taking b6 that cycle which may or may not have had any effect. Best of luck!

My LT is 10-11 days and I am now 11 days pregnant
I also might have PCOS (couldn't confirm, as I got pregnant)

I was like you a few years ago op and found lots of positive stories on mumsnet and elsewhere about how people conceived even with short LPs or managed to extend them with vitamins / acupuncture / reflexology. I tried everything and spent a fortune in the process. Nothing lengthened it and I only conceived after being prescribed progesterone. I wish I had just gone for that option much sooner. If time/ age is a factor for you maybe set a time limit to see if it happens naturally and then look into other options. Good luck OP.

Well, this time I got pregnant the first month of taking b6 (as part of a boots conception multi-vitamin). Last time, I am pretty sure it did extend it by 2 days the first month, and then the second month I got pregnant. So I only ever saw it work once, to be fair,

There is a long running "short LT" thread on the conception board, btw, with lots of good advice.

Mine is usually 9 days. Damn you 21-23 day cycle.

Always been this short and I fell pregnant easily twice but MMC once in between.

DD was a surprise, unplanned and conceived on day 5, the evening after my period stopped in the morning.
DS was conceived on the day I ovulated.

Try not to worry, take some of the supplements and set yourself your own time frame for when you will seek help if needed.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate the stories.

I've had conception vitamins in the past and I conceived second cycle with DS. They seemed to extend my LP to 13/14 days but with spotting from 9/10dpo. But this time both times I've tried them I've had my ovulation delayed by a week. Last time I also bled throughout the month. I've read some other posts from people saying that b6 has caused them similar problems so I'm a bit nervous about taking it pre ovulation. I'm trying vitamin C in a low dose because I've read higher doses can help but I want to introduce it gradually. I'm nearly 29 so age isn't a huge factor but ideally I don't want a massive age gap between DC.

Has anyone heard whether B6 can help if you just take it post ovulation?

I read somewhere that a lot of people do just take it post ovulation. I think that might have been what I did first time round, I can't remember for definite.

This time, I took it for the full month, but only because it was part of my multi-vitamin with the folic acid etc too.

Thanks French, I might give that a go if no joy in a few months. I just didn't know if it would have any affect straight away. I'll have a look online to see if I can see anything Smile
