Pregnant after cancer

I was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago at the age of 33. After my chemo I had tests and was told I would never be able to have children and the chemo had obliterated my ovarian reserve. I was devastated. Fast forward to today, I had my 12 week scan and I am (hopefully, touch wood etc) on my way to becoming a mum! I am so scared though as my body has let me down so badly before and this could be my one chance.

Any other post-cancer mum's-to-be out there?

I've not been through what you have but couldn't read and not grin and offer my massive congrats on your pregnancy! What brilliant news! Everyone worries in the early days of pregnancy so eventhough you've been through the worst of times, the way you feel now is probably pretty normal! Wishing you lots of luck for a smooth ride

No but opposite. Hubby had chemo and was told would be infertile so of course we never thought I would get pregnant. I'm 10 w today. Still in shock still don't believe it. Prob won't till the scan in 2 weeks

Hi bella - congratulations - I had cancer when DS 18m (now 8) after 5y post diagnosis thought why not try - numerous miscarriages and couple of years trying now over 4m - very exciting and scarey too. It's lovely to visit hospital for a non-oncology appointment. Hope you enjoying pregnancy and not too sick x

I've had two friends who have had babies conceived after cancer treatment. I dont think it'd be fair to post details of their pregnancies on here, but I think it's safe to say there weren't actually many details anyway - after the stress of cancer and infertility, their pregnancies were OK.

Not me, but my DH had cancer (Hodgkin's lymphoma) 6 years ago. We were warned it could affect fertility so had banked sperm, but when we did start TTC it turned out it was me with the problem (PCOS) not him! Fortunately some Clomid sorted that out and I'm now 33 weeks.
