Hey Ladies, just got my BFP this morning after 8 cycles of TTC. I think I am 4+1 so very very early. I am too nervous to join the AN threads yet but need to learn all about pregnancy, what to do, expect, not eat, worry about or not. I haven't let myself read anything before! totally clueless! Help! Thanks

Book yourself a GP appointment, dont smoke, dont drink, dont take medication, avoid soft cheese and pate. And Congratulations

oh i dunno something to do with lead levels in certain fish or something. i'd never heard of marlin before the midwife told me that!

I found this website really helpful.

www.babycentre.co.uk

it gives you a week by week picure and guide to what your baby looks like and all the info on food, travel, exercise etc.

Oh and congratulations by the way!

MerryMarigold · 26/01/2007 12:07

or mercury maybe

Mumpbump · 26/01/2007 12:08

Hi there! Posted congratulations on your ttc thread...

I found askbaby.com really helpful too - similar to babycentre. I didn't read any books about pregnancy because I personally think that too much information can be confusing and stressful as you then don't know what to do...

The only other thing I would say is have a look into the NCT antenatal classes once you get past the 12 week mark as (depending on where you are) they can get booked up quite quickly. They are a useful way of getting a support network for when the baby arrives...

LieselVentouse · 26/01/2007 12:10

this is very helfpultoo

Fingerscrossed2007 · 26/01/2007 13:33

On the medication line. Don't stop takign things that you have to take normally such as blood pressure medication. GP appointment too to get yourself in the system.

Folic acid - though you're proably on that already

And of course - enjoy,

MrsMcJnr · 30/01/2007 14:40

Thank you all for these

Just to pass on what I found out the other day from here - avoid long hot baths during 1st trimester - can make you very dizzy and faint.
