Anyone quit smoking whilst pregnant

I wondered, have any of you used NRT whilst pregnant? I stopped smoking 2 weeks ago at 4 weeks pregnant and all is going well but I'm using patches.
The pharmacy I'm using for the patches don't know I'm pregnant (I didn't know I was when I got the patches) so I dont know for sure if it's fine for me to use them (either way I guess it's better than actual smoking) Google doesn't really give me the answers.

No judgement from me - I was 7 weeks before I fully gave up.

I went cold turkey through weaning off so can't advise on NRT patches. As you won't have a midwife yet (I assume) your best best is to phone the Stop Smoking advice line (search on Google) and speak to them. They get involved with pregnancy support groups so should be able to advise until you have your Booking In appt at 8 or so weeks.

Ask for help with complete cessation now, though. Even if you've not seen a MW yet, see if there is anyone who can talk to you now about further support.

I was on gum and e-cig

I have been on using an ecig for a year and now down to the weakest nicotine level. My midwife said if it means you stay of the cigarettes they would prefer me to keep using the ecig rather than go back to smoking. I have cut right back though as it makes me sick when I vape at the moment.

There's some good info on this page. NRT is safe in pregnancy, however:

NRT patches should be used for no more than 16 hours in any 24 hour period. The best way to stick to this is to remove the patch at bed time. If you have pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting, you should not use patches. Another form of NRT should be considered.

You can double up with gum or an ecig if you need to. It's well worth getting in touch with stop smoking services. They are non-judgmental and will greatly increase your chances of success.

As long as you're using the ones you take off at iight and not wearing them 24 hours a day I think that's ok. I quit around 22 weeks ago at 7 or 8 weeks using an ecig at first, then nicotine inhalotor and now use nothing unless I'm desperate I then use ecig probably 10 puffs a week.
How are you finding it? I really struggled and didn't WANT to quit really I enjoyed it and tbh when baby is born I'm sure I'll go back as I'm still miserable

I stopped smoking whist pregnant. Well done ! Have you thought about gum I used it and found it fab .I stay in Edinburgh and we have a stop for life where you will get nrt and support. They used to give you a free gym/swim pass for three months u don't know if they still do it

I've stopped with the NHS Stop Smoking service and they prescribe patches. My counsellor said that the guidance can sometimes say don't use, but realistically they are much better than smoking and so it's a means to an end.

It is worth giving them a call as I've found the service amazing and, most important, really non-judgmental and supportive.

TeaLeaf, I'm also struggling and not enjoying quitting, so don't feel too bad about it. The counsellor told me that it can be harder to quit when pregnant as it's actually quite common for nicotine to be one of your cravings (plus all the other hormones going crazy at the same time). I'm struggling through, but equally I can see how life is much better not smoking so I have told myself if it goes wrong after the baby is here, I'm going to go on Champix afterwards and quit for good.
