Clicking noises

OK - this is odd.
I am 31 weeks and recently started to notice a clicking noise coming from my womb. It is clearly heard on the outside - my husband has heard it too! It sounds like a cracking knuckles kind of noise and seems to happen when baby is active. Can be anywhere but usually where the kicks/thumps are.
I have googled it and found a couple of forum threads about it elsewhere about women experiencing this but no clue as to what it is! Just wondered if anyone else is having this odd thing happen...
I am a GP and have been for the last 4 years and seen pregnant women throughout that time - never have I heard of this. And I did 6 months O&G and never heard of it.
TBH am relieved that I have read about it and despite no one knowing what it is, they all seem to have gone on to have perfectly healthy babies. Still a worry mind!

I heard the same clicking noise during my last pregnancy and just sometimes with this one and it was baby hiccups. I remember posting a similar message on MN last year and some women had also experienced it as hiccups and others something else.
I found it fascinating once i realised what it was. HTH

I have seen this mentioned before on MN. Various people, including me, have had occasional clicking noises from the bump. However, no-one has ever been given a satisfactory explanation for it, except that it doesn't seem to indicate any problem. My LO gets hiccups at least twice a day and it doesn't seem to be related.
