Anterior Placenta

Hi guys,

hope all the bumps are growing well and we are feeling well.

19+2 here. Discovered I have an anterior placenta, my bump is very big already and I can only feel the baby kicking internally rather than on the outside.

Anyone else anterior? Any feedback?

Hi Jilly. As no one else has replied I thought I would reassure you. I had 4 anterior placenta pregnancies, all grown up now. Whilst it is less common than the placenta implanting elsewhere it is not a problem as long as it is not too low when obviously it can cause problems (posterior or anterior) I had normal labours and speedy delivery of the placenta so I honestly think this is nothing to worry about. I think it may be hereditary as my daughter also had an anterior placenta. Best wishes.

I'm currently 26 weeks with my first and an anterior placenta.

They warned me about movement, at 19 weeks I got my first internal flutters, by 20-22 they got stronger and at 23 weeks I felt my first external, now a good few times a week I get external kicks! Still majority internal but very active overall x

Hi!
I've got an anterior placenta and am 30+1.
I felt kicks later than I did with my first ds but now I feel them regularly.
The midwife said not to worry, a low lying placenta is a concern but not anterior.
I had to have an extra scan as scanning through me and the placenta was tricky to see everything at 20 weeks but I got an extra chance to see baby so all was good!

I had an anterior placenta on my first pregnancy and normal position (posterior?) On my second.
I definitely felt flutters and kicks later on my first but could still feel them. In comparing the two I felt the first pregnancy had more "muffled" kicks / movements - i slept much better on my first as wasn't being kicked awake all night so there is a benefit!!

I feel kicks now at night time but they are never enough to keep me awake!

I had an anterior with my DD and am now pregnant with a posterior placenta. The difference is like between night and day. With DD I was in for monitoring loads, thought I was going mad, seldom felt anything much. This pregnancy I've seen kicks on the outside from 15 or 16 weeks and now at 33 weeks my belly is constantly visibly moving.

I also have an high anterior placenta and at 22 weeks can't really feel anything....

I have an anterior placenta. I think it was after 22 weeks that I really clearly felt movement. Before that I maybe felt flutters, but was never sure. Now at 36 weeks the little bugger kicks constantly and you can see my belly move.

Anterior placenta here too.
22 weeks today and nothing I would say is definitely movement (although having never been pregnant before, I wouldn't know what was).

Also carrying very much forwards and bump is huge for how far along I am.

Anterior here too. First baby so impossible to compare but I didn't feel a lot of movement at all till I was 26 weeks or so. Felt flutters and the odd bump but I was expecting more when comparing this to my sisters pregnancies for example. Now the little bugger doesn't stop and my belly looks like two monkeys fighting under a rug! It's great!
There's never been concern as its not lying low, so all is good.

I had an anterior placenta and felt kicks regularly after about 22 weeks I think. Could feel him moving a lot but not as strong as friends with a posterior placenta I don't think. But like others have said by the end there is no mistaking the movements anyway!

I'm 38 weeks and have an anterior placenta. Was a bit disheartened at first as was told I wouldn't feel much but believe me I feel those kicks! Can feel feet and bum and also feel knees/elbows when moving around now. Felt first movement around 19 weeks and strong, visible kicks/movements began around 28 weeks.

As many other posters have said I sleep a lot better than I thought I would at 38 weeks!

DD was posterior and felt movement from 13 weeks. This pregnancy I felt movement from 11 weeks but was surprised to find out there is an anterior placenta. These flutters were at the side but as the placenta has gradually risen (I think) I've felt more and more inferiorly. Now 24 weeks and felt him squirm with my hand on the surface yest
